My Fourth Book.

“..Belzec was ..first camp of Operation Reinhard where most of ..Jews from Krakow and Lvov regions were exterminated. It is less known from ..other camps because there was only one survivor which could testify what happend there or writes some memoirs ..contrary to other camps. One more reason is while in ..other camps were uprisings which got publicity in writings and in Belzec was no uprising. This ..according to my understanding ..is ..reason why Belzec had less publicity in spite ..as you wrote ..10% of ..victims of The Holocaust were murdered there.” Yitzhak Arad.

I will borrow again, and from a Jewish term, ‘zedakah’, but it will not be for God, it will be a righteousness ensuring that memory does not forget what was allowed to happen to the Jewish People. My words are in protest at Catholic’s in the Christian World who forgot to voice their outrage, or worse still, chose to ignore what was happening to these Jews of Europe. There had to be a motivation to write this, my fourth book on the subject of The Holocaust of The Jews of Europe. My sense of guilt over what has been achieved against the 884,700 Jews within Hitler’s Belzec, and certainly for all those 6,000,000 Jewish People of the entire Catastrophe, all is part of that reasoning. With hatred and atrocity it is a disgrace to all of humanity that this calamity was achieved at all and also, that we stood firmly by and lifted no finger to arrest the mounting enormity of the crimes. Clearly, what I have managed to state in all x3 of my previous Books has needed a different perspective added to them. Having visited Auschwitz/Birkenau, Belzec, Majdanek and Sobibor I realise the magnitude of loss requires a more personal endeavour than mere words can convey.

Immediately, and once you step out across these Death Camp sites, there is this immense sense of the devastation that took place in each of these pitiable settings. You actually feel at a loss to even begin to measure the significance of that desolation which occupies these spaces. That the individual Death Camp had the same function is consistent with Hitler’s demands to clear the Jewish People out of Europe. They differ though in so many other respects, not least of all their sizes. As with Auschwitz and Birkenau, the one, intended to be the holding Camp, which was for Auschwitz to facilitate the destructive end of the production line that was constructed at Birkenau. But both are Death Camps in their own right. Both deal with the capacity for Destruction of the Jewish People, and so many others, and on a monstrously industrialised scale. But this is not to say that Majdanek, Sobibor or even Belzec did not achieve a wholesale slaughter in definite comparison to Auschwitz and Birkenau.

But without the same or similar capacity to destroy any and all of humanity should it have so wished, each of these x3 Death Camps at Belzec, Sobibor and Majdanek were instrumental in bringing to Hitler his Final Solution. While it is hard though to imagine that the primitive nature of these x3 other Death Camps could have annihilated that many Jews within such tight confines, it is perfectly true what they achieved. As clearly as Auschwitz and Birkenau were designed to accomplish a murderous atrocity against the Jews and all of humanity, so too were Belzec, Majdanek and Sobibor conceived. Though Majdanek commands a size far larger than both Sobibor or Belzec, and while all appear diminutive once one emerges onto the vastness of Auschwitz and then Birkenau, their capacity to mass murder was not diminished. This struggle with capacity is all a remnant of my previous work, which is constantly running into an expression of dismay and even anger for what took place and what was allowed to happen.

But still, the capacity to murder and murder even more was moved away from The Aktion Reinhard Death Camps into a single marshalling of destruction. Hitler must surely have surveyed the outreaches of the Reich and recognised the future failings would soon crush his wider aspirations. So Hitler galvanised his efforts into a more mechanised production line which would deliver at Auschwitz and Birkenau a more complete resolve. Here, within Birkenau, while taking the human form from arrival to cremation and then oblivion in one space for action, Hoess achieved all that Hitler now expected for his Final Solution. However, Belzec accomplished in a small space of time what Auschwitz/Birkenau or even Treblinka could not accomplish. A kill rate so vast, the number of Jewish People swallowed up in such a short space of time has proved even more monstrous, if that is possible to conceive.

As I visited all of these Death Camps, I still have Treblinka and Chelmno to visit, I at once felt that I had gained access to an emotional reservoir that was being hidden under foot. For me, and I have waited a number of years to write this 4th. Book, and as part of that reasoning is the unwelcome attention I have drawn to myself for the material Facts which are contained within each of those previous works on The Holocaust, I now set aside those concerns. The Truth appears to distract all too many from reason, when the Factual Truth exists that Hitler had 6,000,000 Jews of Europe Exterminated, Annihilated, Slaughtered for no other reason than they were Jewish Men, Women and Their Children. That Fact alone, which shocks us even today, is a reminder that when the spiritual head of the Catholic Church bows his head before Auschwitz, he recognises and accepts the very reality which is acknowledging the destruction of 1,100,000 Jews alone Murdered within Auschwitz.

Those who would dispute this very pertinent and relevant Fact would discount 1,000,000,000 Catholics from that honest admission. While it remains for Christianity as a whole, a Blot on their religious perseverance, it means that the haters are clearly out of touch with reality. The deniers allow their hatred to distort the truth with their agenda to promote an antisemitism long since found irrelevant. In Hebrew ‘To da Raba’ translates back to Thank You very much, and I am thankful that I have been given a voice to speak out. It has proved essential, and on behalf of those 6,000,000 who have been deprived of their voice and lives, to add another voice concerned that our past must not blight our future. The words of this newer Book for me, which places Hitler’s Belzec as one more testimony still to be heard, it is once more an expression on the awful intolerance’s which dealt the Jews of The Holocaust such a murderous blow. For me, it is a very personal testimony of what I have come to know of.

Here, I separate myself from all those who know The Holocaust, those who succumbed to its reach and those who Survived its intention. As a writer who remains outside that immediacy, I borrow heavily from the memory of those no longer available to us and from those still capable of delivering their evidence. For me, writing must be a pleasure, otherwise what is the sense in putting words down for other’s to read? But since establishing the need to write on the subject of The Holocaust, that demand to inform is filled with a pain which has been overwhelming at times. I shudder to think what 6,000,000 Human Beings went through to know of this tragedy so intimately. For Survivors too, the detail is a calamity of first hand experience and a knowledge of what happened to their Family’s, Community’s and People.

We on the outside cannot ever begin to understand the gravity of Jewish loss, the immensity of Jewish privation nor the incalculable devastation of Jewish dispossession as it relates to our World entire. Personally, the very exacting detail of the atrocity has proved exhausting, yet I am keenly aware that in that detail, I am spared a trauma so immense, I cannot yet comprehend how despairing it must have been. For those Jews who filed out of train carriages and landed in Belzec, in the other Death Camps or at the Killing Sites, the hopelessness resonates throughout time. Added to which, I am mindful that there is an urgent need to continue the attempt to comprehend what it is that The Holocaust means to us all. I have become, almost certain, that The Holocaust is longed to be forgotten by those who have no wish to Remember it. But my belief, which has become almost a mantra to continually work by continues to be is Always to Remember, Never to Forget

For those, whose urgency is in forgetting, be they the culprits of participation or perpetration, or the witnesses to an event so gruesome they wished to shake its recall from memory, forgetfulness cannot be allowed to prevail. Gladly, these recalcitrant deniers are the few and History has been well written by those who best exemplify the need for Remembrance. All too many who seek to place The Holocaust in the past, though few in number are still ramping up with loudness, and using the religious fervour for forgiveness to assuage the dissenting voice of memory. I am not alone in knowing the power which memory holds and thankfully, resources have been given over to copy the testimony, file the memory and record the evidence of what happened in our time to the Jewish People of Europe. There this a permanent discord which seeks to shut down the recording of the truth in favour of concealing and attempting to somehow redeem the lack of credibility Hitler has staked a claim to.

Whether that denial desire is to remonstrate with the guilty for their guilt or with the perpetrators for having perpetrated these crimes, truth will prevail and we will know the weight of a truth that has been marked in 6,000,000 different ways. There are also those who seek to assuage the guilt of the one man Adolf Hitler, without whom The Holocaust could not have happened. Hitler’s place in the midst of The Holocaust is an unforgivable act of brutal savagery. No one, not one single person has the right to forgive what Hitler has done to the Jewish People. Purely, the grant of pardon belongs to those who have had The Holocaust inflicted upon them. That those, the imposed upon are these 6,000,000 Murdered Jews of Europe, theirs has no voice to render such absolution. The quelled voice of these 6,000,000 Jews has been permanently stilled. There are 6,000,000 Jewish People who have had their memories quashed and their exclusive right to forgive is for them to deliver.

The very existence of all 6,000,000 innocent Jewish Men, Women and Their Children has been culled from perpetuity. We must reflect upon the fact of their passing and where we can, extract as much detail as we can so as to afford them a more substantial evidence of their passage through our time. For these 6,000,000 Jewish lives have entered into a pact now with History which must forever protect them from forgetfulness, denial and the hatred which destroyed them in the first place. Each of my Books in turn has been extracted from the other to present a more in depth analysis of the subject contained within its previous host. Hence out of that first inception of Testimony and Fading Memory in The Holocaust, der Einsatzgruppe and The Destruction of European Jewry emerged. This was intended to define more closely the role of these roving bands of murderers which Hitler sent against the innocent Jews of Russia, the Ukraine and the Baltic States.

For me, the Jews of The Holocaust persisted only as long as Hitler required for them that moment of freedom that he allowed them. When der Einsatzgruppe entered the field, 1,250,000 Jews perished, were extinguished, were Murdered, and in full view of elements of the Reich administrative and civilian population, Wehrmacht and any one else who chose to see what was to be seen. After this Book, I sought to extract a work which could deliver to the reader an insight into the most despicable single event in all The Holocaust. This was the atrocity which was raged against the Jews of Kiev. Babi Yar A Jewish Catastrophe is that Book and here, 33,771 Jews of Kiev were taken from their homes and Slaughtered in this ravine in the space of 2 days. This single atrocity marked Hitler’s clear intention for what remained of European Jewry and the bureaucracy for implementing Hitler’s final solution was enacted upon. With the exception of my first book, the subsequent two Books have gained from what I had previously written.

That initial work, while it stood alone as a testimony to what I perceived was the fading from memory of those who could afford us the first hand evidence of what they had been threatened with, has gained for me a knowledge I had sought out. With the passing of time, which was gradually diminishing our access to the Survivor, we still have dug a deep furrow into what is a troubling and tortuous period in all of history. The presence of those Survivors who could lend us so much was fast escalating toward an ending. With the Survivor no longer being with us to deliver their first hand evidence, a direct connection to the atrocity was being lost. While Hitler ruled over the very existence of the Jewish People, the Survivor has never been free of Hitler’s clear intention to destroy them. While the Jews were not immediately made aware of that designated atrocity, it rolled out over them in a steady torrent of abuse, brutality and eventual destruction.

Once Hitler had gained power, a relentless forward motion progressed the Jewish People steadily toward the very gates of destruction. Here at Hitler’s Belzec, and elsewhere where Hitler had planted the seed of his final resolve, a massive destruction of the Jewish People was undertaken. The Jews of Europe, and wherever Hitler’s forces ranged freely they had little choice other than to conform to what they initially considered was some form of work placement. Indeed, the prospect of Slave Labour had dawned upon the Jews as a survival mechanism. But that was far removed from what Hitler expected for them. As a civilised and cultured nation, Germany could not be seen as other than enlightened, refined and the arbiters of justice and integrity. How could the Jews of the 20th. Century see other than the prospect of a value placed upon them that was other than commensurate with their potential.

No one in the enlightened world could have possibly believed that Hitler could so assuage a German nation to barbarity that 6,000,000 Jews would be annihilated. But the evidential and factual proof of this certainty is clearly written 6,000,000 times over in Jewish blood. The choice that the Jewish People were given, within such a confined configuration of space and time was limited and it eventually proved choice-less. It is not the duty of history to reproach these Jews for what was enacted upon them. It is a testimony to their persistence that there would be any Jew whatsoever who managed to survive, escape and claw their way out of Hitler’s reach. For their endeavour, these Jews who were so restricted in what they could achieve and that achievement was forced from their hands. What Hitler allowed for, with regards to the existence of any Jewish presence is damnable enough. If we then resort to accusing the persistence of some of these Jews in their Survival, we are to be disingenuous with what must have been an awful reality for any and all Jews faced with what Hitler resolved for them.

What Hitler would ensure would be a very final and conclusive solution to any Jewish existence. As with all of my work, please be aware that within these newer pages there are the faint echoes of a Jewish past now taken from us. There is still that same obscenity written within Hitler’s Belzec which seeks to account for the Destruction of the 884,700 Jewish People entrained there. Certain that no less than 600,000 Jewish People were Murdered within Belzec alone, can we assess in an account the loss? What was made self evident to me as I stood atop the fields of a Death Camps destruction is the very pertinent Fact that the destructive capacity here was truly visible to all who went past the gates of Hitler’s Belzec. The World of indifference which allowed for these Jews to be led along the path toward abandonment and annihilation struck deeply. So if The Holocaust is to teach us anything I would suggest it has taught the Jewish People far more.

For our part, we must never be swayed ever again to deliver to hatred any People, whatever their creed, race or colour to the destructive capacity of hatred. We can never descend that far again that we treat any People with such utter disdain. The Jewish People must never be allowed to become separated from each other, to become divided or to become conquered without our most stringent protest. There is far too much hatred toward them and their vilification must be repelled with a unity unmatched in all of their history. Agreed! I am an idealist and ideally there is to be no hatred in the World, let alone an antisemitic hatred founded on Biblical misinterpretation. History and The Holocaust should now have guarded the Jewish People from this hatred, but they are not immune to those who still wish a solution to what Hitler could not finally manage, totally!

But are the Jews guarded against the dissent amongst themselves which might well allow their enemies to once more strike at their very core? The Jews and Israel have the lessens of History to teach them what it is we were prepared to allow happen to them. For us, The Holocaust must teach us the meaning of Tolerance as it tutors the Jews in the singularly effective and collective defence of their being. The problem from History is in not acknowledging that 6,000,000 Jews of Europe are The Holocaust, exclusively. The term was sought to bridge the divide between what was perpetrated and what we should endeavour to comprehend. No only that, it is in assessing that these are 6,000,000 Jewish People for whom Hitler systematically sought out for destruction that we will find our own resolve to learn. There is this unfortunate aspect toward retribution which has availed The Holocaust of such an omission. Also, and we magnify the catastrophe for the Jews but that singular failing.

History will continue to remind us of what was achieved in our time, what was allowed to happen during that period and what we could have stood more firmly against. There are the children of the Perpetrators who will have no history while their presence is based upon the concealment from History of the truth of participation. Many of the Death Camp guards, even the members of der Einsatzgruppe have sought to deceive their kinship with lies and a rejection of their clear responsibility. Who can know a Parent if there is such a lie between them? Eight million Germans and Austrians were committed Nazi’s and were pledged to that cause. Within Hitler’s Belzec alone that cause drove perhaps 884,700 Jews to their deaths and availed all of History with an account, in totalling some 6,000,000 Jewish lives that is an accusation far graver than we can ever come to terms with. With a great sense of that blending together of coming to terms with what we allowed to happen and aligned with a form of comprehension we still struggle with, we have moved relentlessly forward.

With x3 of our Popes, who have now visited Auschwitz, that move is taking stock of the silence! A Polish Pope, a German and an Argentinean Pope must not allow for this enormous stride to ignore the responsibility to History owed by frankness, truth and honesty. These Popes each command the respect of the World and led 1 Billion people who know they are not being duped by the lies that deniers perpetuate. When there are 80 Million Germans who insist on accepting their historical responsibility, they are not so gullible as to be duped by the denial nonsense. Who to believe. No need to think. The Factual Truth that 6,000,000 Jews were Murdered, Gassed, Shot, Hanged, Starved and Killed is a Factual Truth. At Hitler’s Belzec that truth was maintained in a murderous detail which secured for all of eternity a certainty which will be repeated in genocidal terms and from a lesson we have chosen not to heed.

All Survivors, Primo Levi and Elie Wiesel included, are the advocates of a Remembrance we must take with us. The Survivor’s no longer keep quiet and they face a relentless and exhausting rendition of a terrible trauma we cannot begin to comprehend. Their stated aim, to recall and remember, which is forever challenged by those filled with hate, needs to be listened to in order for us all to learn from such an atrocity. There are 6,000,000 voices which have already been stilled and now is not the time to remain silent in the face of historical accusation. The voice of reason is being shouted down by the angry voice of hatred, denial and a quest to both forget that The Holocaust happened and that Hitler is the main culprit. We cannot allow for the voices which stir the hatred to gain the upper hand. That is to be a legacy of testimony and I lend the words of Hitler’s Belzec to ensure we recall and remember. We cannot renege on the duty we are bound to, toward a Memory for 6,000,000 Jewish Murdered for whom we are morally bound, Always to Remember, Never to Forget.

“..I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps ..oppressor ..never ..victim. Silence encourages ..tormentor ..never ..tormented.” Elie Wiesel.

I wish to point out that the quotes at the end of Hitler’s Belzec are not in any way an endorsement of the work itself. They are from those for whom I asked a question and mainly is response to that question as to the space of Belzec within the context of The Holocaust. As for all of those who responded, I have barely quoted a few who fix their own assessment of what Hitler’s Belzec represents for us. I thank them profusely for their time, for their advice and for their comments. I have been involved in a commentary of The Holocaust for more than 20 years and have barely scratched the surface of what it must have been like for the Jewish People to feel abandoned, to feel forgotten and to feel that somehow we did not care enough to forestall any part of Hitler’s intention for them within Belzec, the other Death Camps and wherever the Jewish People had persisted for Century’s.

Hitler’s confrontation with ..Jewish People in The Holocaust and here at Belzec on an academically monstrous level leaves me troubled. I am walking upon hallowed ground. As I walk ..perimeter of destruction at Hitler’s Belzec ..I hear ..traffic flow of by passing cars ..vans ..lorries making their way toward Lvov or Tomaszow. I hear ..faint hum of people in ..distance sharing ..detail of daily life. Transported back 74 years who could not hear ..emissions of pain ..sorrow ..anxiety ..fear ..dread ..march of 847,400 Jews condemned ..shot ..killed ..gassed. These Jews ..battered ..beaten ..brutalised metres from lines which communicated other’s life and their death. Who did not hear. Who could not see. Who would not smell. Who sensed nothing.”

Tokele Named

I was given an insight into a terrifying period in our History and when I looked further, there was the Murder of a Child to contend with. Tokele was a 4 year old Girl, and as I realised that she was Murdered because she was a Jew, I could not contain the will to write what was to be a response which has lasted some 20 years. Such is the obscenity written within The Holocaust, which I have explored ever since. I took my lead from there, when Tokele, that 4 year old Murdered Jewish Child touched a very raw nerve, and she has been much of a guiding light for me ever since. As I have traversed the huge despair that has not been stifled, History responds and opens a wound that the Surviving Jews, the Jewish People on the whole, and the State of Israel must endure over and over again. Yet 6,000,000 times over, that endurance must wound more deeply every given moment. So please be aware, that there is an obscenity written within these works and it is detailed in the Slaughter of these 6,000,000 Jewish lives.

This profanity, which not only points to the Destruction of these 6,000,000 Jewish People, but it stresses the very Fact that World indifference led these Jews along the path of abandonment toward annihilation. The Map above declares this clear breach with humanity, and no conscience is allowed to be side stepped so as to accommodate the violation of Tokele. So as to consider her a target for Murder how do we ignore her young age? Once I had decided that I was going to write, I would allow my own clear conscience to add a voice to what that particular indecency had betrayed. While it gradually emerged that I could emphasise in words my abhorrence at the catastrophic subject that is The Holocaust, I was immersed in such depictions of terror so horrible, words could all too easily feel insignificant. That said, it all became apparent that with time, the Testimony of those who could impart so much of all they knew, including, Survivors, Witnesses and even the Perpetrators, that this time was fast diminishing and more words were required.

Einsatz

It is inconceivable however that we can fail to learn anything from The Holocaust when those who know of its immediacy can teach us a little of what they have clearly experienced. Here, words play an important part in our understanding and appreciation of the devastating effect The Holocaust has had upon World Jewry, the State of Israel and upon our own humanity. In this image, and there amongst the bullet ridden bodies of those Jews catapulted into oblivion, are even Children of that humanity. I have come to feel the need to ask ever more questions which become necessary for our own comprehension. The Survivor therefore, who looked death squarely in the eye and evidenced a dimension of human degradation, lends us so many words that we are still hard pressed to even grasp what such an image conveys. The Survivor’s testimony can bring back to humanity a certain hope, and with that, the expectation which must be learnt to benefit all of humankind. It still amazes me that years away from this single incident stretched across a single image, we have yet to learn that Genocide fails all of humanity.

These Children Survived

Also, and in that single image of a Child known to History as Tokele, she too was brutally and callously taken from us. Tokele adds a further dimension to the dehumanising evidence that The Holocaust proclaims. Then when we become witnesses to those Children who managed to Survive, and these are Children who managed to Survive Auschwitz, what on God’s green Earth can we say to them? What detail of hope can we deliver to these Children who have lost practically everything they had lived to know and had Survived to see what was taken away? With respect to what emerges from the time, I received correspondence from a Lady who knew Tokele personally and was acquainted with her immediate Family. She knew of the tragedy in close proximity to the event and now, having been presented with a newer detail of her life, I have felt a more existent kinship with Tokele’s memory. It has always been my desire to ensure that Tokele is not forgotten and while, in essence she has a residence amongst her own People, they are the 6,000,000 Jews for whom, atrocity has met them and sealed the same hate filled and reprehensible fate that devoured Tokele’s little body.

There are those who have presented to History the very evidence of what they themselves Perpetrated in Hitler’s name. Yet they are hiding more of what they know from those who would only add to our dimension of knowledge. They give an insight into what they were capable of, and in unison with fighting elements of the German Army, the Wehrmacht, accomplished the destruction of 1,250,000 Jewish People by many means besides the bullet and Gas Van. All of which must afford all in History a lesson which should not have been copied, should not have been mimicked and which has delivered further to the excess that is Genocide. Christianity demands of its community both conscience and compassion and yet all too few Jews of The Holocaust received either from an ostensibly Christian Europe.

There were far too few words of consolation and certainly a deep satisfaction, in the most part, that these Jews would not return to reclaim what had been taken from them. In that sense, the theft of all things Jewish, even outside the murder they met with, steeps all of those Catholics or Christians with a stain that will not be easily forgiven. The lack of sorrow for what was known to have transpired, strips aware the veneer of Christian charity which their belief system expects and commands. There are – of course – exceptions and YadVashem has established a criterion, the model of which will test the legitimacy of those now considered Righteous Amongst Nations.

For History, the route toward collaboration was rampant and can be assessed clearly and distinctly with a snippet from these OSR’s. Though the Righteous are far fewer than one should expect, we still seek to laud these few for their exceptional bravery and their fraternal nature. Collaborators, locals with similar antisemitic hatreds assisted the Germans on every level. Many, like the Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians were implicated in the Killings at sites all over Europe and in the Death Camps Hitler had established within Poland. For these all too few Righteous, who stood taller in the face of adversity, more so than Political or Religious leaders who represented nations, states and even their own congregations, are not rewarded enough. For these Righteous too, theirs was an individual act which restored a simple balance missing when the Jews needed as much help as they could get. The standing of these Righteous individuals has soared above the rest of humankind to rescue reputations lost in the ignoble indifference that was to categorise anti-Jewish sentiment, hatred and mass murder.

The sight of German Wehrmacht and SD Einsatz kommandos arriving together on the scene of an approaching atrocity gave vent to many hatreds. That these antisemitic adornments already filled many communities, these hatreds had been built upon over many centuries, the German presence gave expression to the vilest of natures. It was an easy message from the arriving German forces then for the establishment of Pogroms against the local Jews. Jewish People who had been former neighbours and friends for those vast periods in time were forsaken for many competing reasons. Many Germans initiated kills, which were both exacting and brutal on an individual local level. Far beyond borders, the gathering pace of these initiatives were catastrophic. It concerns me, and I have no doubt that the sincerity of prayer throughout these defiled lands accounted for a wave of guilt that has been forever repressed, but it cannot ever assuage the guilt nor retrieve the loss of human compassion.

All of this is an admission of a very grave wrong which cannot be countenanced with silence. In the 84 years since Hitler came to power, while he was adding to the rhetoric of hatred and anti-Jewish propaganda, silence became the indifferent tone to far too many who looked the other way. Of course Hitler’s version of a more than 2,000 year old hatred, which has more or less descended the steps toward an ignominy none could emulate, was a final solution we know now as The Holocaust. For the Jews of Europe who were already under constant threat, Hitler came along and threatened them even further. That exacting threat became their extinction and the eventual obliteration for 6,000,000 of them. For the intervening years, almost 12 years in all, in which Hitler moved from speech to action, this period would see the cultivation of a past civilisation sink into an abyss of degradation unparalleled in all of History.

Memory of these events, 71 years since Hitler was defeated and then once Jewish persistence could begin its onward journey once more, all of this has allowed for a Memory which indeed has been Fading. The fuller tragedy in this, after failing to come to terms with the loss of so many, has been that the exact memory we seek to add to our overall knowledge is being discarded by those former members of the Reich who officiated over the atrocities in unison with der Einsatzgruppe. Tragically for all of history, it is important that Wehrmacht recollections are made in earnest so as to unlock the hidden denial which perpetuates the wrong done to the Jews of The Holocaust. It is a nonsense for History to squirm away from directing the debate at those we know are culpable, duplicitous and guilty of some of these excesses. Some of these questions which must not remain unanswered are deliberately responded to by these words. Was the German 17th. Army present at any of the Einsatz Aktionen? Undoubtedly!

Was the commanding officer of that Army, General Karl Heinrich von Stuelpnagel made aware of the atrocity? Remember that the firing squads fully engaged their kills and which remained within earshot of his own HQ’s, were operating for hours on end? It is undeniably true that the evidence was there! How else could a General command if he was unaware of any large, minor or full scale operation was being mounted within the vicinity of his own command? The truth in the duplicitous nature of all too many who either participated, even perpetrated these crimes or knew of the very detail of the slaughter is being concealed. But truth has a habit of explaining for itself what remains undeniably at odds with what has not been allowed to emerge.

Likewise, were the 4th. and 9th. German Armies ever invited to marshal those Jews who were destined to be Slaughtered? Without doubt! Did their commanding General’s Guenther von Kluge, later to be GeneralFeldmarshal, and Colonel General Adolf Strauss respectively, not know what the volley of gun fire which was ringing out in their vicinity was all about. Not very commanding of Hitler’s Wehrmacht Generals if they didn’t know what was happening on their door step. But for those Survivors, whose acute awareness of this truth manages their Survival, they are being kept from that truth for all the wrong reasons. As the Survivor, who is now being taken from us at an alarming rate, passes into our past, they might never hear a simple apology.

The Survivors are passing into History, all too many with their memory either lost or forgotten. At least some will have handed over to posterity through their Testimony in an Interview and Media capture, an invaluable resource. But this is not just the passage of time for the Survivor. This is to be the removable knowledge of first hand evidence that is slipping away from us which History needs to secure. But I am just one of the many who has grasped this essential need and for what we must learn from these individuals who have already seen and experienced far too much that is harrowing. But for our descendants, for humanity and for all that History represents, we are compelled to seek their return to memories they would surely suffer in remembering.

So for us, those lessons must also arrive with the testimony of the many Wehrmacht Generals, Officers and ordinary soldiers so heavily involved in ensuring that der Einsatzgruppe managed for Hitler what Hitler demanded of them. The malaise within which the subject of cooperation, complicity and duplicity has been arraigned in the midst of The Holocaust is a negation of their clear responsibility. Armies are governed by Convention and the German Wehrmacht’s conduct has been contradictory to those events History has been given to acknowledge. I have taken to all manner of mediums to invest with meaning the words that will deliver much that shares to the bereaved a feeling of sadness and sorrow. That this should and will extend a posthumous apology on behalf of those who should have been given an apology by now, can only play a minuscule part in redeeming humanity’s loss.

In Remembering that 6,000,000 Jews of Europe were Murdered, and that Tokele is fixed amongst them, I am writing to acknowledge a grave loss which we cannot ever come to terms with. It is for these 6,000,000 individually Murdered Jews to forgive what is the unforgivable and it will be an eternity which will arise before we can ever consider forgiveness on their part. There are still so very many though, who can ask for forgiveness. They can do so for their participation in the major operations that were ranged against innocent Jewish Civilians, simply on the basis that they were Jews. But these perpetrators, of the most vicious of crimes of The Holocaust, will leave to their Children and posterity, the burden of a guilt no longer assuaged.

Operational details were so matter of fact in dealing with the Slaughter, that it is difficult to imagine the nature of even those who computed these obligatory assessments. Hitler, it must be stated, would have been ecstatic with the accounting he received, handed to him by a phalanx of flunkies. Meanwhile, the relentless stream of reports and citations filled the desks to Hitler’s antechamber and whilst we did too little to prevent this tragedy from happening, Hitler revelled no doubt in its implementing conduct. So in recovering the memory of those no longer with us, and this is all part of why I write, we can lay the blame squarely at Hitler’s desk, around Hitler’s Table, and within Hitler’s contextual assessment for a final resolve of the Jewish question. Sadly for me, the absence of more words from those Hitler ensured could never deliver into the pages of History, their statement of terror and horror leaves me and others to adopt words from their era and adapt them to pay respects to their passing. Indeed the intention of those words are contained in this, my first Book:

Testimony and Fading Memory in the Holocaust.

For me, this initial attempt at recalling such a terrible atrocity is in itself merely a collection of reverential words. They are fully seeking to add a voice to the omission of those who were so ritually destroyed in the conflagration settled upon by Hitler. A more concerted confrontation with those whose intolerances drove this very specific Catastrophe forward was not established. At a time when it was essential for the World to have confronted everything that Hitler stood for, it was the Jews who offered Hitler a response they paid for in bloody terms. I make no allowances for the use of that very Testimony which has been so far gifted to us. What it affords us is the clear insight into a period of terror and a brutal awakening for the Jewish People in the midst of a trepidation they never roused from. I am merely a spectator, an onlooker so remotely removed from the anxiety which gripped Men, Women and Their Children, and all because they were Jews. I wholeheartedly offer a Christian perspective as to why this was so wrong and contemptible. I cannot even begin to imagine the full horror to greet these People as they were systematically delivered to the Death Camps and their Killing sites.

In extracting from this first book a newer chapter on an auxiliary force so brutally contrived that 3,000 of them massacred, and with impunity, 1,250,000 Jews, and others, History has grown to know the detail of the specific crimes they committed. These supplementary are der Einsatzgruppe and there were four strategically placed groups under specifically challenged individuals tasked with accomplishing Hitler’s Final Solution, in the field of operations. Notable amongst these were Arthur Nebe, Otto Ohlendorf, Otto Rasch and Franz Stahlecker who commanded these four Gruppe. In respective order their commands of Gruppe A, B, C and D acted with unrestrained atrocity while they purged each and every consecutive area of any of its Jewish Community.

The evidence of what emerged, as these bands of thuggish and brutish murderers roamed freely amongst innocent Jewish Communities, is testifiable. Not only has the Testimony of those who actually saw and witnessed der Einsatzgruppe in aktionen been corroborated, but the perpetrators themselves authenticate what the Survivor then informs us. All of this is announced in a clearly written dialogue between the murderous ranks of these executioners while it reaches all the way back toward Hitler in his Wolfschanze, his Wolfslair, and also his Berlin headquarters. These infamous reports, these Operational Situation Reports, OSR’s, are an accounting in cold relief, as to what amounted to Hitler’s attempt to accomplish his Final Solution. Operationally out in the open, these Situations were hidden from view, and in the full glare of War, Reported upon in an itemised and frank way.

But do not be led along by the simple deed of the Slaughter, managed on an industrial scale and utilising a mechanised methodology that moved from the gas chambers of T4, into the field with der Einsatzgruppe. These massed killings, efficiently handled by the Batzs, Ehrlingers and Sandbergers of der Einsatzgruppe, murdered by bullet decree and fell back on Gassing, utilising Gas Vans to save themselves from the sensitive issue of direct killing. This too was a mere step along the path toward places like Belzec, Birkenau, Chelmno, Majdanek, Sobibor and Treblinka where the process of annihilation moved to the static Gassing Chamber. The Death Camp was borne out of necessity, so as to accomplish for Hitler his Final Solution of the Jewish Question and before his petty world came tumbling down.

In the six Death Camps Hitler had erected in occupied Poland, here the Jewish People were delivered to factories of annihilation. Here, their complete and utter destruction awaited. Here also, at these exact same sites, they were already competing in murderous terms with the efforts of der Einsatzgruppe. Where the Jews faced an amassed destruction of their very being, ash mounds would barely remain to measure the space they had previously occupied. Here too is where Hitler’s ideological grounding made full use of his larceny of intent. For Hitler, the total destruction of The Jewish People did not go far enough for his maniacal despotism. What went hand in hand with the alleviation of every single possession or asset that the Jewish People had ever preserved, owned or acquired was an enrichment for Hitler, his Reich and for all of those involved within The Final Solution.

All of this was carefully written into the script of Hitler’s demands and it was the requirement of those at the killing end, to ensure the coffers of the Reich were further enhanced. The spoils of war for millennia have been a mixture of gains and losses to do with conflict and human dispersal. But on the spreadsheet of The Holocaust, Hitler’s accosting of the Jews was totally gainful in terms of their destruction and the currency their losses provided. Hitler grew rich on the back of such a grand theft, as did the Reich, its administrators and their descendants. Here too, with the mix of tragedy and duplicity in what was emerging from the atrocity, there is a further accusation against those who even knew the very smallest detail of what was happening to the Jewish People, though many were not implicated directly in its conduct.

We are not even talking about the eventual evidence that came after Hitler had finally slinked off into oblivion. But almost immediately, as and when the slaughter was happening, what was witnessed or assessed became known. British intelligence had managed to intercept the radio transmissions of der Einsatzgruppe as they were conducting their killing spree. But what the intelligence services of the Allied Nations then chose to keep secret, in order to preserve their own interceptions, not only assisted the level of murder that was accumulating, but failed in assisting these Jews during their worst hours of direst need. So with Hitler’s Armies dismantling huge swathes of Russian territory and disassembling an inordinate number of Russian Armies along the way, and working in tandem, I assembled a discourse which became my 2nd. Book.

der Einsatzgruppe and the Destruction of European Jewry.

These Einsatzgruppe forces commenced in earnest, to destroy all Jews, Russian Kommisars and anyone else they thought fit to crush. As soon as Hitler’s legions entered into Russia, the slaughter began. In their earlier form, these Einsatz forces had roamed through Poland immediately after September 1st. 1939, honing their murderous skills and delivering for Hitler what Hitler had then assessed he could further achieve. In Russia, these four roving bands of der Einsatzgruppe, once Hitler had set them their target in killing, set about their own specific detail; targeting all Jews, Soviet Kommisars and anyone else Hitler saw fit to destroy. The establishment of the killing fields which applied such an enormously murderous effort within Russia, also marked Jews in the Baltic States and in the Balkans for the exact same mistreatment. It is an immeasurable Catastrophe which has been singularly assessed as having driven 1,250,000 Jews toward extinction.

That der Einsatzgruppe has largely achieved such notoriety, is almost hidden beneath the depths of depravity being assessed within the six Death Camps. Here, across the German border in Poland, Auschwitz has been given the mantle of Holocaust expression. It is, however, necessary to be cautious with that final Einsatzgruppe assessment in as much as we cannot be certain as to the accuracy of the account. It is as likely that far more than this 1,250,000 number of Jewish Men, Women and Their Children were taken out and Shot, Gassed, Hanged and were otherwise killed to satiate a blood lust festering inside Hitler’s fetid mind. The target of der Einsatzgruppe had not been fully met, but in quick time 15% of all Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian Jewry had been slaughtered. As the progress toward annihilation of what then remained of 10,000,000 Jews or so, this was being scheduled for future certainty. In many places, der Einsatzgruppe accomplished an astonishing 100% success rate in its killing enterprise.

Do not forget also that the language of annihilation was covered in subterfuge and the euphemistic terms sought to secrete the very detail of the destruction. But what is also certain, a mere force of 3,000 men and women, no matter how ideologically adept at murder they were, could not have accomplished this engineered cleansing operation on their own. The collaboration of many nationals, from the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and complemented on a large scale by Ukrainian collaborators. Of course there were many others who ensured Hitler’s enterprise was well managed and maintained. It is not just these other nationals who sought to apply their own hatred and who became enmeshed in this vile and murderous trade. There were many German civilian units, members of the Waffen SS, soldiers of the Wehrmacht and Polizei officers who are all implicated in the worst of the excesses.

However deeply the indoctrination of the many were incubated and sourced to inflict such an excess upon so many more Jews should not be ignored. As killing site after killing site became filled with the destruction of entire Jewish Communities, those implicated and involved in the very detail of the destruction became ever more authoritative. Their authority over the Jews they came into contact with was complete. There was no overriding moral principles to bring to bear and all scruples were laid outside the gates to the Death Camps and the Killing Sites. From here, as der Einsatzgruppe cut a swathe through so many Jews, I extracted my next title. From within the midst of an atrocity so immense, The Holocaust, my third book could have been written to converge on the discourse of the brutal savagery meted out to the Jewish People in this one ravine.

Babi-Yar -A Jewish Catastrophe.

So while atrocity was placed at the forefront of all negotiations between der Einsatzgruppe and the Wehrmacht, the very detail of that close liaison moved on from Minsk. In the midst of what Hitler had certainly suggested be planned, we arrive at Kiev where the single most devastating atrocity perpetrated against the Jewish People was then enacted. Here within this Book, I began a more deeply focused work, delving into my research with only that single atrocity in mind. Such was the staggering nature of the assault upon the Jews of Kiev, which has exemplified the kill rate to be attained by all of Hitler’s minions, the Catastrophe for the Jews within Babi-Yar warrants such closer attention. This two day orgy of killing proved in need of the necessary emphasis for me, so as to add to the wider context of The Holocaust I had already written about.

For the Jews who were driven toward Babi-Yar what amounted to a ritual slaughter, whose capacity was not accomplished even with Auschwitz, even at the height of the Hungarian Jews’ most savage loss of life, set the bar for atrocity. The monstrosity of what is in evidence here is all too easily generalised. Babi-Yar exemplifies the detailed effort made and with the arrival of a hatred so imbued in those willing to accomplish the act, the Jewish People were bloodied to extinction. As much as it did depict the particularity and the expression within the atrociousness itself, History has not claimed a more manifestly heinous crime in all the years of human existence. So following on from this ravine, a kill site with no equivalent even in all of Hitler’s rampage, nothing has ever since followed this shockingly murderous lead. In 33,771 ways a terror above and beyond the horror Hitler had harnessed and then commanded was unleashed and this has become the very narrative and factual detail in my third Book.

In no other place and in no other time has Hitler’s Final Solution been more resolutely exemplified, and with such mass brutality and slaughter than here at Babi Yar. The depth of depravity which Hitler sought from those he engineered to act on his behalf cannot be truly understood nor comprehended. In modern day terms, and without recourse to latter day evidences, demonstrations of such brutality the sight of which we have been gifted, Babi Yar is an atrocity written in 33,771 atrocious terms. The fact too that Babi Yar might well have escaped detection has much to praise witnesses for delivering its factual integrity. Even the intelligence gathering agencies of the free world could not allow for such an atrocity to escape the crucible of notoriety. Proper remorse or even the administering of appropriate justice still escapes from Babi Yar.

I had wanted this third Book to take on an element of the concern I shared for the grave losses incurred by these Jews of Kiev. That they were Men, Women and alongside them Their Children just like us should be enough to merely state that this was wrong. But lamentably, because they were Jewish People, much of History has seen fit to dismiss this relevant fact. While I could not know what these Jewish People had endured, or how they had suffered or even if they themselves could be adequately and eventually mourned over, I could raise a voice, use my words to place their loss before us all. I have thus far endeavoured to give words to the admittance of a graver wrong than has ever been contemplated and accessed. What Hitler achieved no man has ever formerly found the depraved nature to have accomplished. Such an atrocity remains the accusation of Hitler, and even those who might seek to emulate such an evil undertaking.

I had often sought the advice of Elie Wiesel and he had satisfied me that History must play its part in searching The Holocaust for meaning. He assured me that no novel narrative could do justice to the memory we sought for those Jews so cruelly taken from us. So for me, the reconstructed words of those very Jews who were murdered at Babi Yar would have to wait. Their omitted voices, let alone the suffrage of those very Jews at the point of decimation could not be heard by other than those Jews alongside them and who were suffering the same fate. The voices of the many who witnessed and even perpetrated these crimes are stilled for their own guilt ridden and selfish reasons. But for those Kievan Jews, wronged even in these OSR dispatches to Hitler, and whose air was drowned out within The Holocaust, their fears could not be resurrected by me, nor anyone who did not hear their plaintive cries.

Osr 106

For these innocent Jews then, and as Hitler regaled his subordinates to exemplify further his demands for a Final Solution, Blobel and his SK4a used every means to achieve Hitler’s end. The sheer deceit used to convey to History the concocted excuse which render the Jews toward destruction, was never plausible. Within Babi Yar itself there had to be a stated fear, a terrible horror and an agony which belonged only to these, the Jewish condemned. These murdered Jews could be given a space in our memory only if History asserts their right to have belonged. Some on the frontier of open hatred for all things Jewish, would deny the very presence of these 33,771 Jews at Babi Yar. That all certain memory is kept intact by those who seek to deliver to posterity the sense of wrong that was done against these Jewish People, must prevail. The injustice that is perpetuating the effort to negate their very name, even to this very day, must not be allowed to precipitate any further abuse of their name.

With this many Jews facing slaughter, it is abundantly clear that their former homes had been taken over by Hitler and his Reich. This is what Hitler surely meant by Lebensraum! Though we settle here on the exact total for the two day slaughter, at 33,771 murdered Jews of Kiev, that figure could all too easily be the calculation of around 36,000 Jews who are otherwise mentioned. With as many as 200,000 Kievan Jews and others filling the ravine, History will never know the exacting detail of Blobel’s effort let alone what the ranks of the Sonderkommando, Polizei, Wehrmacht and Waffen SS achieved here. It is certain though that Hitler was aware that between some 75,000 and 80,000 Jewish People had already been Slaughtered in the first days since Kiev had been taken. But while the accounting is far from clear, and though the measure is both brutal and exacting, we know with pain and sadness that the Jewish loss is real and our loss is no less certain.

If there was anyone who I would gain information from pertaining to The Holocaust it would be a Survivor from the midst of this Jewish Catastrophe. For me, Elie Wiesel epitomises the humanity this World is in greatest need of as Intolerances and hatreds spread wider and further. Elie Wiesel wrote back to me on those occasions and his words were filled with support, advice and an understanding as to why a Christian might want to comment on a Jewish tragedy. My search for comprehension of such a terrible episode in all of our History led me to Elie and he corresponded with such considered a response, I am eternally grateful to one of Humanity’s greatest tutors. I have learned so much on this journey in search of missing Jews from Europe, and not least from those like Elie Wiesel who wished to impart an essential understanding of why this must never happen again.

The tragedy for us all is that it has happened that intolerable hatreds have led to an inordinate killing of more and more human beings buoyed by the wrong lessons which those like Elie Wiesel sought so hard to deliver us from. The greatest tragedy too is that the lessons have not been learned, and those so intrinsically equipped to teach us the way forward are ebbing away. I will come back to Elie in a few days but I wanted to place before all that matters to me in the narrative of The Holocaust, my last request to Elie Wiesel. It need not be answered as I am all too well aware of what it is Elie Wiesel would have said, as it is Elie who said:

“..Holocaust defies literature. ..describing an event ..we transmit ..its reflection. ..No one has ..right to speak for ..dead. ..story had to be told. In spite of all risks ..misunderstandings ..for ..sake of our children.” Elie Wiesel.

Dear Elie,

It has been a long while since I communicated with you Elie, and I am sorry I have taken so long. I have resisted the temptation thus far, to write a next Book, so as to avoid an element of a novel content doing a disservice to memory. Perhaps that is why I have taken so long since writing my last Book to consider any other Book which might feel appropriate to the Jewish Catastrophe. That said, I have a request. I know you must be inundated with these, but I know the responses required will give the Belzec Museum a reference point that might just assist them? I have now visited four of Hitler’s six Death Camps that he assembled in Poland, and I am troubled that perhaps my previous work lacks the dimension any attempt at the form of comprehension direct knowledge must bring.

It seems to me too that it is so very difficult for history to state that The Holocaust was such a closely guarded secret. Having seen for myself that when it is only Sobibor which tests the theory of a secluded destruction having been hidden, and its truth is still not contained, we cannot ignore the fact that Millions must have been aware. This is why I am writing to You. Having read all of your works I would appreciate it if you could spare me a comment on what place Belzec has in The Holocaust. It is my intention to write to all of those Writers and Educators who have afforded me time and encouragement and hopefully present their responses to the Belzec Museum. As the somewhat poorer relative of Auschwitz/Birkenau in particular, but also Sobibor and Treblinka in relation to the Aktion Reinhard Camps, Belzec can be all too easily forgotten.

This cannot be allowed to happen, when a Camp with such a destructive dimension is somehow sidelined in our understanding of The Holocaust term. We know from our study of the history on the subject that at least 10% of all Jews of The Holocaust period were eradicated at Belzec. This was achieved within a time span of less than 9 months. It is essential therefore for me, that Belzec can administer toward the learning process needed if we are to learn anything in History. Imperative in that also is for any eloquence which I might bring forth and present to those whose wish it is to learn the lessons of The Holocaust, that it is a borrowed articulation from those who know The Holocaust.

So as not to get our future all distorted and wrong, the Survivors of the worst catastrophe to ever meet with humanity, have such a resonance we simply cannot ignore. Those who Survived what was intended for them, and we know from Wannsee that 11,293,300 Jews of Europe were intended for annihilation, these Survivors know what it is that I can only learn to know of. So while I have borrowed heavily from what those Survivors, just like You have sought to teach us all, the narrative must be enhanced further by those of us who wish to know what the Survivor alone can inform us of. Please note too, that while many of those I correspond with are adamant that the denier must not be entertained, I will not allow for the deniers’ hatred to become the last word.

I enter into a dialogue with the denier distortion but do not debate the veracity of the place for these 6,000,000 Jewish Victims in our history, memory and understanding. The denier will object to our knowledge of the factual truth of what actually happened, and some might be swayed if their denial is not countered? For me, people like Mel Mermelstein and Deborah Lipstadt have proved effective in opposing the deniers’ deceit. I am well aware of your position within this regard, but as a Christian I feel I am making a point that fully recognises that when we were sought out to stand tall and object, we made no comment during the Jewish hour of direst need!

The argument therefore, that we need to avoid giving the denial lobby any credence is a just one, but I have managed over the past few years to interrupt their vile corrosive revising of our history. I simply maintain that with the fact that The Holocaust is the truth and that 6,000,000 Murdered Jews will not be allowed to be forgotten, some who wish to study the subject will not be swayed by the deniers’ falsehood. We have in the past tried to forget the Jewish plight, the agony of the Jewish People and the destructive imposition that they were under and they paid for that with their lives, all 6,000,000 of them. I wish to stand taller than so many of Europe’s people when we should have been following what our Faith proposed we do in accepting our neighbour. I remain,

It is Monday June 20th. 2016 and the World learns that Intolerance’s have grown, people are still being Murdered. Whatever the excuse the assailant uses, the taking of an other’s life is all due to the very unique difference individuality displays. Whether that display is hereditary, they have a marked disability, that mark is an invalid, spurious, specious and illogical reasoning to target such people. If the question of Colour or Race is invoked, no one has the right to determine the superiority or inferiority of any person based on skin colour or ethnicity. Religion is not an area for human beings to commit to murder on the pretence of any faith. While these all appear to be modern manifestations, they are designations of a darker past.

They hark back to when a young girl, Anne Frank, was being terrorised and was even forced to remain hidden away, out of fear for her life. Anne could not deny who she was, she was a Jew. Anne was approached by Hitler and his cronies as a human being somehow unworthy of life. Hitler had set the principles by which humanity would be judged and by humans unfit to evaluate the credentials of others. Hitler’s Nazi’s carried out a detailed and systematic slaughter. That bloodletting has been given the term of The Holocaust and has been given over as recognition of this particular Genocide. 6,000,000 Jewish Men, Women and Their Children of Europe do not merely belong to a term, they belong to a consciousness which is growing in awareness.

However, and all too often that appreciation of a remembrance point in our civilising humanity is being abused, perverted and misapplied in purely negative ways. No person should have any form of distinction placed upon them by another who sees their Religion, Ethnicity, Race, Creed, Colour or Sexual diversity as other than acceptable. We are as diverse a range of humans as can be and all because of that diversity which is what has humanised us. That is the basic humanitarian lesson of Tolerance, the tenet of all faiths. We are each made of that same mix of moral and ethical responsibility or we cascade down into an abyss of immoral, unethical and brutal conformity. It is for each of us to express what that diversity with its toleration can mean for us all.

That very difference which Anne Frank sought to promote in her own words, has gained a momentum which charged with the essential that sees in all People a unique blend of goodness, ideals and hopefulness. Our humanity is what makes us an incomparable and principled being. Our acceptance of each others humanity is what makes us exclusively human. For those who seek to impose their will or infect us all with their belief or even infest our sensibilities with their hatred, they are wrong in all that they would profess. Anne Frank found that innate and intolerable hatred out to her cost, and in a Concentration Camp at Belsen. Here, before the accusation of all of history, within the confines of Belsen, Anne Frank was removed from existence.

Anne Frank’s message persists to this day though, and it seeps into the vocabulary of many and now articulates in the history of our World. That space we cohabit, where Tolerance must be heard above that of Intolerance’s, will engender a compassion that can all but defeat all forms of hatred. We cannot ever legislate against the random act of violence, but we can point the way toward an acceptance which decries the few who seek to entrap even more in the infamy of hate and intolerable behaviours toward other’s. Those other’s who might not look like us, or sound like us or even act like us and who might espouse to be different, have the right to live as they choose unhindered by anyone and imposing nothing upon anyone else.

After May 1940 ..good times were few and far between ..first there was ..war ..then ..capitulation and then ..arrival of ..Germans ..which is when ..trouble started for ..Jews. Our freedom was severely restricted by a series of anti-Jewish decrees:

Jews were required to wear a yellow star;

Jews were required to turn in their bicycles;

Jews were forbidden to use street-cars;

Jews were forbidden to ride in cars, even their own;

Jews were required to do their shopping between 3 and 5 P.M.;

Jews were forbidden to sit in their gardens or those of their friends after 8 P.M.;

Jews were forbidden to visit Christians in their homes;

Jews were required to attend Jewish schools,

You couldn’t do this and you couldn’t do that, but life went on.” Anne Frank.

Tragically for Anne, and 6,000,000 Jews like her, Life did not go on, Life did not Persist, it succumbed to a most vile and rancid hatred! All of which sounds all too familiar for those who have been left reeling from the hatred that has managed to hurt, main and kill those they Love. In this World, were some are required to wear a label that sets them apart, they are all too easily preyed upon. Whether they can or cannot use their bicycles to frequent the places of their choice or use street cars, trams or buses. Many might be prohibited even to this day, to ride in cars, even their own, at the behest of those who would deny them this freedom. There are countless cases of curfew’s for many who must conform to do their shopping between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.

There are as divergent a set of trades which people are not allowed to indulge in, and for their own safety of reason, must only frequent those establishments like barbershops and beauty parlours which are ethnically and racially divided. The World curfew continues to prevent many people from being on the streets between given times, between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for instance. This, so that those who impose these rituals can conduct their nefarious deeds. To this day there are Peoples the World over who are forbidden to attend theatres, movies or any other forms of entertainment in case they gain an appreciation for a culture which has its civilising effects. There are People who are forbidden to use swimming pools, tennis courts, hockey fields or any other athletic fields in order to prevent them gaining from that need for social compatibility.

Social inter mingling, which is so decried by the isolationist demands of those others, denies all too many the freedom to express their own difference. There are People who can be forbidden to go rowing or to take part in any athletic activity in public for want of no better demand than it is so deemed by other’s. There are many Peoples across a wide spectrum of vistas who are most certainly not allowed to sit in their gardens to view the space they inhabit. They cannot even choose those of their friends, whose space they might enjoy to see for themselves a space which can be enjoyable. There is a timetable for all of this also and after 8:00 p.m. this sojourn in owned too is prohibited in case it causes offence to haters and those bigoted in Society.

Here too the legitimacy of Religion is evoked so as to stain us all with a difference, a separation and a finite individuality. The need of all Community’s to be diverse, charitable and accepting is denied for those of us for the very reason it is endorsed for all, with Toleration. Jews would be forbidden to visit Christians in their homes, or Muslims denied access to their friends who might be Hindu, Sikh, Christian or Jew. Learning the best way forward is the only way forward. Schools are not the province of divisiveness where a single mantra is extolled and learning is subjected to bias and intolerable distortions of truth and integrity. University’s too cannot be allowed to tutor earnestly without the format of factual honesty. It is above all else an imperative, that our teaching establishments educate. In that instructive discipline there is the equality in all of mankind which is the accepted norm rather than the unacceptably deviant.

Any such skewed idea that racism can be treated with other than contempt must be eradicated by means of a learning process that instructs correctly. Intolerance it seems allows for the few who would incorrectly inform the many so as to extort from even more any and all ability to persist amongst equals. Equality is not the province of the few, it must remain the right of all no matter how unequal they are perceived by those who would subject them to any lesser status. Those ignorant few who seek to deprive the many so that they are prevented from acting independently and are urged so that they couldn’t do this and you couldn’t do that, these few have the weapon of hatred to enforce their loathsome credentials. But life goes on. It persists and within this there is a conformity of strict intolerance to a hate filled order.

Tragically, human life lasts until it is denied its very vibrancy. When all of the checks to correct bias, prejudice and hatred fails, those People who did not fit into the negative stereo type designated for them by those other’s are forbidden to exist. They are offered up on the mantle of what ever intolerance those who wish to perceive, adopt and use them can bring to bear deem fit. Murder, killing and Genocide becomes the ramifications for a human indifference we have endured for far too long. There is still a need to advocate for ever more Tolerances. There is a certainty that with the rejection of Intolerance’s, we can live in a more harmonious The dialogue is there for us all to state clearly the wrongs of hatred and the right of every living soul to remain unmolested by any form of hate filled bias or prejudice.

I guess it is all too easy from this vantage point in History to know we could have done more to alter the course of The Holocaust. We could have at least prevented some of the detail of the atrocity which claimed 6,000,000 Jewish lives. How much more difficult is it for the Jewish People to know that we didn’t manage even to try? Today the World has awakened to yet another terrible statistic, and innocent lives are once more shed as the vagaries of disaffection, disillusion or denial stirs up ever more hatreds. Another young man goes on the rampage through a place of education and Children are slain. A further terrorist cell awakens and innocent commuters are slain. The hate is palpable and the victims are a cause we can do without. The whole of humanity is inexplicably set toward the resolve for yet more answers as to why atrocity has become common place. I draw from the terrible catastrophe which is The Holocaust and know that only the negative lesson’s appear to form the example that is used for persistence or existence today. For me, and in all truth, all narrative accounts from the era of The Holocaust have become the documented Evidence we are now provided with, presses home a warning to mankind to alter course or face future genocide’s.

We have The Holocaust evidence to draw upon so that experience, knowledge and what has been clearly ascertained from all manner of testimony, can rein in the excesses of the few against the exigency of the many. Any particular documented evidence can only enhance what it is we are aware of. This fact of evidence all adds to an increase in the dimension of that the factual truth which The Holocaust preserves for all of us, is both tangible and certain. Here is where we meet with deniers and what denial does not have is that same residual or even factual account of the truth The Holocaust has borne to History. Nor does any denial of The Holocaust possess the accumulated documentation of an evidence equivalence that we already carry. In large part, the evidence from The Holocaust has been delivered to us by those who chose to ensure we became aware of its terror and by those who sought to ensure we would not be made so aware.

However, we already possess such an immense knowledge of what transpired, which assesses the account for the destruction of 6,000,000 Human Beings, and all because these innocent human beings had a Jewish antecedence, we seek further evidences. The denial of The Holocaust is an irrelevance, it has no credibility nor veracity and it only seeks to deceive those who would buy into their lies. For instance, here in history, as is the case with Chelmno, which was one of Hitler’s first Death Camps established in Poland, we seek to review the evidence we have obtained. We do not seek to revise its integrity as newer evidence might yet appear to add to the devastating weight of the particular detail of that atrocity. Though we might have earlier assessed the destruction at Chelmno, as the murder of 250,000 Jews, it remains uncertain whether that assessment might be varied as a lesser appraisal or even as an upward spiral of destruction? What ever reassessment occurs, it will be methodically managed given the very delicate nature of the Slaughter we seek to Remember. None of that evidence though will ever bring us any nearer to the realisation of the very totality which is the individual assessments made for any of the Death Camps let alone for the overall Catastrophe that is The Holocaust.

While that detail is measured and presented in the specified mass slaughter of these 6,000,000 Jews of Europe Men, Women and Their Children, humanity cannot afford to neglect them further. Hitler’s reach for a Final Solution is seemingly, to the deniers anyway, an attempt to deconstruct our own History. This is attempted in favour of a bias which has no credibility, no documentation, lacks Evidence and has no veracity in truth, and wishes to exonerate Hitler from the midst of the conflagration. There can never ever be a comparison to this catastrophe, the unprecedented and systematic Slaughter of the 6,000,000 Jews within The Holocaust. That being stated, what parallel’s that might be reached, is of a World standing so idly by while Humanity gets washed up upon a Turkish shore. A little boy whose only future resided away from home, in a foreign land and away from a Syrian slaughter is drowned and intolerance’s persist.

That certainty which sees the unprecedented nature in The Holocaust, can clearly be evidenced whether this be in Babi Yar, Belzec, Chelmno, Ponary, Sobibor, Treblinka, Birkenau or amongst the sand dunes of Liepaja. This formulaic slaughter is a resonating factor from The Holocaust and it is clearly identifiable within an indifference that is so clearly precise within the passages written and still to be recorded. Any conclusions to be drawn, however, will see the death’s of future human beings, not just Syrian’s, as other refugees become stranded in an exercise of political positioning, but people considered unworthy of life, existence or any rights to survival! This stated fact though is not a Genocide of The Holocaust proportion, but it is a negligence so remarkably similar to what Jews might have come to expect but where all too often denied! The tragedy today is of a People fleeing conflict and being used as pawns in a game of brinkmanship! The loss of the Jewish People was tantamount to the abandonment of all humanity, morality and the ethics of concern.

Truth, however, is only safe in the hands of those who wish to move forward on its veracity into History. Truth will forever be distorted by the needs of some people who wish to forge their own agenda of bias and hatred. While need will exhort many People to take terrible risks to flee, it will extort from so many a penalty which the Jews of The Holocaust know all too well. The verification of the needs of any free People to flee their homeland will resonate with the Survivor of The Holocaust. So what exactly will be the legacy for Humanity from the lessons of the Jewish Holocaust? It is apparent that up till today, that lesson has been exemplified in destruction of more and more people. It has been proven that what this world has learned from the destruction of 6,000,000 Jews within Europe, has been the capacity to murder on an enormous scale, and relentlessly pursue its victims. It is almost a guarantee of an exemption from justice that the specific detail of any atrocity has a magnitude which can be measured in a human disaster we call a Genocide.

There is an entire industry surrounding this denial lobby and it is one that seeks to enter the mainstream narrative. But denial of The Holocaust is only adding confusion to the integrity of all of History. The denial franchise does not harbour the requisite needs of Truth which is essential if History is to lead us forward and away from past mistakes. Don’t get me wrong! The Holocaust is replete with revisiting the past, revising what we knew earlier and altering many of the perceptions gained in the immediacy of what we were confronted with. But, we have a duty to refer back to what became known in the full glare of the horror presented to an incredulous World in order that we can take forward the lessons gained. We students, researchers, writers on The Holocaust are all essentially adding to the Truth of what we know. We are not, unlike the denier, consciously denying that truth in favour of some racially motivated bias given over to ethnic hatred’s, Not even their attempt at political persuasiveness can deliver the denier to anything but contempt.

It is essential also to realise that all too many of these would be story tellers have sought the accolade of the Historian, and have even been previously accepted in some form of identity with an historical repute. But the failed academic or pseudo historian lost all acclaim and it came to a halt with such an impact, their reverberations cannon off of each other and stifle their failed legacy in such an obvious manner. This ousting of those revisionist deniers with a hidden agenda is clearly identifiable with a hatred for the Jewish People. There is also an underpinning with an apparent adoration of an Adolf Hitler who has been resurrected in the guise as some form of ideologue leadership. However, with their rejection of Hitler’s strongest claim to an ignominy so profound, as History has demonstrated is The Holocaust, they attempt to position Hitler outside that main goal he so urgently required. What Hitler clearly demanded of all those who followed him was a first and foremost radical confrontation with World Jewry, it could only be settled with their complete annihilation!

There is this voracious accusation in relation to what denial states, and that all too many are swept up in, and their seeming largess is less than subtle when all that it represents is the manifestation of hatred. There is that very sinister side to their denial, and it is in their attempt which wishes to orchestrate us away from the Truth. It is so transparent that they must fail to negate all that History must represent. The denial lobby is such a well oiled contentious hatred for all that The Holocaust represents. The aim of denial, which seeks only to bolster its own attempt to gain recognition for its failed, trite and corpulent fraudulence, is to confuse the Truth and make murky the waters of Historical integrity. The denier writers have been vested with the apparent ability to deny what is undeniable while they reiterate the rejection of the known truth. Once they have wound their way into a well ordered format they subsequently deny anything they ever admitted to as a contextual slip or reasoned excuse for their untruth’s.

What remains undeniable is the very Fact of The Holocaust. The Holocaust Truth has been Verified, Reasserted, Acknowledged and placed under the closest scrutiny of a History that has been scientifically analysed to extreme. The Holocaust Truth will remain a constant in what has been sieved through in the converging lines of Evidence that have been honestly presented. What remains for History however, apart from the commissioning certainty of Hitler’s direct blueprint demand, which was placed before thousands of Germans who took up the mantle of hatred, and this has been evidentially asserted, must be to honour more The Holocaust truth in order to deliver its lesson further. Amongst the colossal weight of documentary Evidence already established, and with much more still to come, has been the omission of a Hitler penned detail that is present in intention, reiteration, accentuation and presentation but it exists in the essence of a Weltanschauung that was clearly directed by Hitler, and Hitler alone!

Ever wondered why there is this accusation in history as to Hitler’s murder of the very soldiers of the Reich who were wounded fighting for the Fatherland? Those German soldiers, be they Wehrmacht, Waffen SS or otherwise engaged in World War II as opposed to The Holocaust, who having fought and were wounded were dispatched because they too were unworthy of life and mouths of no need to feed? There was a hatred and rabid conformity to so called ‘aryanism’ which Hitler utilised to sentence so many wounded German soldiers to death. They were not Jews! These were not Gypsies! These were the Men, and Women who drove a relentless swathe through Europe and the East and were discarded as if they had no worth. With a simple wound or War induced malady these soldiers of the Reich were considered expendable! That is the plain and simple truth for all deniers who would see Hitler as other than a hate filled tyrant. The denier cannot ever deliver Hitler from any regard to what emanated during his period of power, as to do so is to deny his power was as gratuitous and radical as it truly was.

No one ever suggests that the German people, even those under Hitler, were nothing but meticulous or accurate in all their endeavours. There are those ‘others’ today however, and this is a cautionary tale, that unless it comes to the notes, records, accounts and even the very detail of the atrocity which is The Holocaust, these pariahs deny. At least that is their denial contention, transfused back to an era which already troubles much of History with contorted views of the why’s and where fore’s. Here though, at the ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ gates, upon the very ramparts toward extinction for the Jews who entered Auschwitz and certainly Birkenau, we cannot simply ignore the vileness of those who would deny this very Truth. There is also mixed within this, the infinite possibility of the accommodation of ever greater numbers of Jews, and others, ‘resettled,’ Murdered here which would further damn humanity for its role in the overall Catastrophe. While The Holocaust claimed the lives of those Jews, far in excess of whatever assessment we have so far made, and we have accepted a more conservative estimate that is 6,000,000 murdered Jews, it is certain that we can never, ever know the exacting detail!

Here at Auschwitz though, the Camp personnel and the many Jews and other nationals who looked on as they were debilitated, brutalised and destroyed, copied down copious notes as to what they saw, what they witnessed and what they became aware of. All of which is relating to the devastation facing those to be ‘resettled along with their fellow Jews. All of this was an atrocity, the carnage so very carefully itemised, the atrociously correlated and accurately recorded barbarism which will stand for an inglorious 1,000 year period, as a marker to what inhumanity means. Of course that register of such a heinous crime records an accusation that more than 1,100,000 Jews were wholly destroyed here within Auschwitz’s and Birkenau’s grasp. Here, there are these individuals I acknowledge, who have voiced their own personally witnessed and even perpetrator estimates, which range from 2,500,000 to 5,000,000 Murdered souls, all within the constricted confines that was the Death Camp complex that was Auschwitz and Birkenau. However, will that on going assessment be further contended by the likes of those who see in the Perpetrators, and these criminals are the ones who best knew the depths of cruelty and barbarity they exceeded, can these have any redeeming faculty opened to them? all of whom equated themselves with every bestial diversion known to humanity. Therefore, can we trust their varied assessment even when they had been found guilty of their crimes and had merely to await their punishment? But here, unlike the deniers, the truthful Historian has been able to look carefully at these assessments and erred on the cautious. It is both essential that we have accuracy in the account and it is certainly more of an imperative that not one single Jew is allowed to reside within the confines of The Holocaust, unacknowledged, forgotten or otherwise excluded from the atrocities calculated detail. So will we be forever denied the advocacy of Truth when we know that 6,000,000 Jews were Destroyed at the whim of a character like Hitler? Hitler’s very able lieutenant’s were able to support the murder apparatus, and the likes of these few, who were amongst the many 1,000’s who are so abundantly guilty of the most appalling of crimes against our own humanity. There are those, whose sense of indignity at such a shocking catalogue of brutality and destruction, are they to be denied because of their knowledge of the Truth? There are far too many who wish to ply their vile nature against the Remembrance for a People we so literally abandoned to this awful fate. Can we thus assess the Catastrophe and add a dimension of comprehension which all too many have failed so far to gauge? Can there ever be Justice for what happened, indeed for what was allowed to happen to these Jewish innocents? Our place is to reason why and offer no attempt to lift the judgement of History which as yet has been unable to adequately judge the committal, preparation or genesis of the crimes incorporated into The Holocaust. The assessments having already been made, with sturdy research and as accurate a detail as possible, where nothing has as yet established the fullest extent nor the accurate account of what many have so far evaluated. This does not even begin to approach what might be adjudged an understanding or even a comprehension.

How then can we move forward when there will be and cannot be forgiveness in The Holocaust? When those who are solely able to apply its absolution, those 6,000,000 Murdered Jews of Europe, who have been Eradicated, Murdered or Destroyed, they have no discerning voice wishing to invoke their own judgement? These Jews alone, with the moral, ethical and obligatory right to pardon all those who committed them toward oblivion, have been deprived of all ability to do so by the vagaries of a Hitlerite hatred. The deniers would even revoke the commissioning of a final solution from Hitler’s own command. For me, even those who stood idly by or even participated in any way, are no longer able to admit to any form of amnesty! But perhaps it is just me? The plague of antisemitism often Christian led, and through a series of expulsions, pogroms and intolerance’s led straight to the Gas Chamber doors, the Ghetto’s and the Killing Sites were 6,000,000 Jews were ritually Slaughtered.

To this day, and within that context, the frame that I now see of a young Child washed up on a Turkish shore leaves to feel that we have once again neglected the Child, and in some horrible way, we have! But we cannot ask forgiveness of that Child. We cannot remonstrate with the tide which washed over it and blunted its youthful existence. So for me personally, I feel the loss and I see the same need to resolve for all Humanity, the essential to recall, remember and never forget this Child so as to preserve in memory, not just the awful deed, but what had driven the desperation of a Parent to take such a risk with one so precious. As with The Holocaust, the loss to us all of those 6,000,000 Jewish People, Men, Women and Their Children, who are all confined within a Genocidal grasp we are aware is The Holocaust, must Never be Forgotten!

I never once considered whether this drowned Child was a Jew, a Christian or a Muslim. It was a Child! Young! Innocent! In need of our protection! We, humanity as a whole, morally responsible, we failed to ensure the safety of that Child. In much the same way, The Holocaust is all too similar, only amplified by a human factor 6,000,000 times over. It is unthinkable then that we would consider, other than the place of any Child within the catastrophe, which is most certainly The Holocaust, as other than repugnant, contemptible and grossly inhuman. Not showing here is the shallow nature of political posturing of some, who might seek to benefit from such an awful detail! So for these ‘others’, who might not respect such a value which is placed upon each individuals life, be it a Muslim, a Christian, or a Jew, or be they Black, White or Crimson, we know that all human existence warrants all human concern. That concern centres upon the individual no matter what degree of intolerance some might place upon them.

Of course, within that contention for more tolerance, I make no bones about it, I abhor those who would see other’s as somehow denied their space in our time. There are those on the fringes of Historical certainty, these deniers, who would impede the truth of The Holocaust, for their own hatred’s. It is a simple recourse for me that when you intrude upon that integral Truth, and for that single reason alone of denying that The Holocaust happened, in my own defence of that fundamental truth, I intrude. While some might be swayed by the lies told and are swerved off course, I interject! I wish only to uphold the integrity of The Holocaust and in the name of those 6,000,000 Murdered Jews who have no defence of their own. Mine is an avarice, a greed somewhat, which seeks only to endorse Remembrance for these 6,000,000 Murdered Jews of Europe. That these Jewish Men, Women and Their Children were so callously abandoned by the rest of humanity will forever blight that human instinct which should have stood for an ethical charitableness so blatantly lacking during the period of their gravest need!

So how dare some low life Hitler inflict a Nazi code upon a People and decide that that People have no right to life because of their Faith, Antecedence or Origin! How can it be that life is more worthy for some than it might be for others? Intolerance! It is the intolerable legacy of The Holocaust that brings us toward a similar expression permeating all of our relevance to this day. While history today has sought a concealing of the same limp indifference that not only assisted Hitler and his Nazi’s, refugees will be further abandoned due to the presages of space and fortune. Can we continue to place a value upon human existence outside that remit of monetary consideration? A Jewish presence from amongst us was vanquished to ensure a motive of profit would be certain. The wealth of a disgorged Jewish People now bestows a sinful gain amongst all too many in European society who witnessed the dissolution of Jewish Communities from within their midst.

Today it seems, and it is with great irritation that there are some media commentators who must point out that a Child is of some Faith or other, some Race, Creed or even Ethnicity, instead of recognising the status of the Child. Perhaps this is done to illicit ever more a feeling that so much more grieves us? But surely the point is not whether a Child is deserving of our compassion, because they are other than a Child, but it is because of the very fact that they are a Child. That any Child is now deprived of what prospects life had once held for it, that will no longer proffer its timeless gift upon all of society is both a senseless mockery of our own humanity and it is cruel. The tragic loss of any Child bears no comparison and has nothing to do with the Faith, the Belief or even the Religion of that Child! This is why I abhor the rancid denial of The Holocaust. Of the more than 1,100,000 Children who were murdered because their Parents were Jews, and 4,900,000 of those Parents and Adults were Slaughtered alongside these Children, their Belief system is a factor to be venerated, not brutally exorcised and destroyed.

The system which Hitler established to confine so many Jewish People and head them toward oblivion, is erected in the some 40,000 containment centres, these Camps and Ghetto’s constituted during The Holocaust. Within the Ghetto’s, in the Concentration Camps and more especially within The Death Camps, 6,000,000 Jews were made to disappear. In the midst of Europe there now exists an abyss into which a great deal of Testimony has sank. While this abandoned testimony might begin to incriminate ever more of those found closer to the atrocity than has been admitted to, an admission by more of those who witnessed all that happened to the 6,000,000 Murdered Jews of Europe is necessarily essential. It is not unreasonable to suspect that more than have so far admitted that they knew, that they witnessed, that they participated in and even perpetrated these crimes against the Jews of all of Humanity, will not dissolve anyone of the stain of guilt in the Genocide. When one considers the amount of available knowledge which emanates from such isolated, closed, insular and tight knit communities, where the Priest is the centre of all activity, where is the fuller detail of the overall atrocity that should have more fully have emerged?

Small details encompass a world wide dimension in tiny communities and it is no giant leap to assert that more within these communities knew more than they will ever admit to. What these communities recognised of The Jewish Catastrophe has not been fully placed before the mantle of History. It is obviously true that not all Ghetto’s were as large as Bialystok, Lodz or even Warsaw! It is essentially true that not all Concentration Camps were as Belsen, Dachau, Gross-Rosen, Neuengamme or even Sachsenhausen were to be designed or designated as. It is most certainly true that not all the Death Camps were as Mechanised in destruction or as Industrialised in killing as Auschwitz and Birkenau were, but each of the x6 Death Camps established by Hitler in Poland played a key part, a component fixture in a murderous enterprise which all linked together to devour some 6,000,000 Jewish People within The Holocaust.

It remains true that countless other people were killed and even murdered during this period, but their title is not confined within a space Hitler had so callously drawn up and had set aside for The Jewish People. With that Final Solution placed before the lexicon of History, the full measure of The Holocaust has more than a single dimension to it! It extrapolates from all divergent arena’s and lends itself to an understanding which has little comprehension for those of us wishing to come to terms with such an atrocity. As to what we are able to know of the pure suffering, the awful atrocity or even the terror that was so cruelly inflicted upon an innocent Jewish People, we immerse ourselves in the struggle to do justice to a fleeing memory of a Destroyed People. How else can we even begin to come to terms with what has happened and then allow for the criminal intent of these deniers, who seek yet further to inflict a more insensitive outrage upon an already vanquished Jewish populace of 6,000,000 Europeans, with a sparing rejection of their hatred?

Throughout 40,000 diverse though converging arena’s, entire communities knew of the Deathly intent that brought the Jewish People to their attention. Many of the Jews own former neighbours became an intrinsic detail of the overall calamity. None too many of such a moral community stood up to be counted when much was to be gained from the Jewish destruction that was gradually emerging. The assessment I suspect has been made, though has failed to raise its pertinence above a muted scream, that far too many were perpetrator’s and enriched themselves at the expense of the Jewish presence. That detail mattered not whether those Jews, forced to run the gauntlet and were interred ignominiously without consideration, is both cruelly and without conscience, wrong. How deeply then has the rot of human depravity sunk our humanity when it has penetrated so deeply into the community of mankind? Has The Holocaust cost the lives of ever more Jewish victims than has previously been assessed and due in no small part to the catastrophic dimensions of individual participation?

The denier can then argue that 6,000,000 Jews were not Murdered at Auschwitz, or that they were even gassed there. We must contend with that! But this is an easy rebuttal as no one suggests that the Destruction of The 6,000,000 Jews of The Holocaust was accomplished there! No one suggests even that all the Jews of The Holocaust were Gassed or even asphyxiated. What cannot be argued over though is the very fact that 6,000,000 Jewish People were Murdered and that 1,100,000 of those Jews were Murdered at Auschwitz and Birkenau! We too can contend, given the Slaughter of Hungarian Jewry, that such an accomplishment of these 1,100,000 Murdered Jews could be achieved within the life time of Auschwitz! We can also posit the likelihood that more people could have been Murdered and more knew all of this than has thus far admitted.

The assessment to be made here surely, must contain an ever more proportionate admission as the Factual Truth which has documented, detailed, delivered and accounted for every aspect and detail of the atrocity. What we have learned is that The Holocaust destruction of 6,000,000 Jewish Men, Women and Their Children is a factual truth. That these Jews were Destroyed within the confines of Europe, that they were Murdered no less than 70 years ago, must not make for a veil of secrecy over the knowledge observed at the time, which is full of holes, lacks credibility and is so disingenuous to the memory of these 6,000,000 Jews.

The Holocaust has been spread out over x6 Death Camps, a very large concentration of Camps and their satellite or sub-Camps to deal in the Destruction of The Jewish People of Europe! Within the Ghetto’s of Eastern Europe, The Baltic States and wherever Hitler and the Nazi hatred decided to concentrate the Jews, Jews were either Starved to Death, Hanged, Shot or otherwise Murdered by Hitler’s cohorts and their auxiliary forces. As to the Final Accounting of the 6,000,000 Murdered Jews, we must take stock of the Fact that some 1,250,000 Jewish People of that number were Slaughtered in the field by der Einsatzgruppe, Wehrmacht, Waffen SS and German Police Battalions. There can be contention with those quite pertinent Facts. The Truth is the Truth and its veracity cannot be allowed to decompose or become scandalised under a revisionist system of denial, deceit and hate filled lies! While we have to contend with the Fact of what occurred to the Jews at Babi Yar, there can be no argument as to the impossibility of the task, as the task itself confirms itself! Within a x2 day period, 33,771 Jews were Murdered in that ravine.

That has the veracity of Truth assigned to it by Jewish Loss, Jewish Survivors, Independent Witnesses, Perpetrator evidence and even German Communications. Deniers might then contend that it would prove impossible to Murder, by shooting, 1,250,000 Jews in any given time frame! But given the proof that is acknowledged here at Babi Yar, and in the German Operational Situation Reports, and that over 16,800 Jews could be Murdered at Babi Yar in a single day, we too could contend that der Einsatzgruppe could have Slaughtered 1,250,000 Jews within a 75 day time frame! That is not a Fact, that is a contention! But it s Fact that will not be concealed that 6,000,000 Jews of Europe have been taken from us in the more barbarous terms ever to be inflicted up any People. This is not a contention! This is a Fact.

I thought it would be difficult to get through nearly 600 pages of text.
I expected the Book to be the usual story of death, destruction and
defilement. It is! It is also a Book that damns much of a civilization
that cannot stir itself to stand against the bigotry and race hatred we
see and hear every day. I had delved into the Holocaust at an earlier
time, parents being what they are, they filled me with tales of what
they witnessed at Belsen. This Book informs, it educates, it stands
against a tide of bile which has not been severely punished enough. It
is a warm Book in many ways given the Holocaust’s tragic consequences.
The treatment of the Jewish People was most savage, it is dealt with
kindly here. There is a compassion in the writers words, it is an
understanding for the Jewish People; and as he is at pains to state:-
6,000,000 Men, Women and their CHILDREN. I commend people to read this
work, but I commend the author more for daring to go where few
Christians wish to tread.

This is a very good introduction for me to Holocaust Books. I knew of
the subject but writing essay meant I had to know more. This Book gave
me hope that we will learn, shock that we have not learned, confident we
are better than racists of the past. Amazed that so many who killed so
many escaped justice. I have learned much of other writers and will look
these up. Patrick Dempsey is obviously a thoughtful Christian with it
seems a Jewish conscience!

A most valuable text for any scholar of the Holocaust, or anyone who wants to discover the extent of the Shoah.

The most compelling testimonies are included, from Perpetrators and
Victims alike. The most balanced book of its kind with more than enough
evidence to support its themes.

Out of respect for the Memory of the 6,000,000 Murdered Jews of The Holocaust, I will not debate the Factual Integrity of The Holocaust. The Truth of this Fact of The Holocaust is well and extensively written. It is etched into History! It is seared into the consciousness of all Humanity. It is not Forgotten! It is not for me to even begin to Forgive the terrible crimes committed! That right belongs squarely to those 6,000,000 Jews whose answer has been quashed, eradicated, obliterated from time! For that reason I have no wish to even acknowledge the depths plunged by those whose denial shames not just these 6,000,000 Jews of Europe, but all of us as Human Beings, Historians and as Truthful witnesses to a Genocidal Catastrophe. For these 6,000,000 of The Jewish People, it has come too late to save the integrity of their Lives, but we will not rest while the veracity of their having come this way is being undermined.

“..yes there were gas chambers. ..Auschwitz was not an extermination camp in ..manner of Treblinka ..Sobibor ..Belzec ..Chelmno .. part of a genocidal programme against Polish Jews ..The Holocaust ended in 1943 ..when ..Nazis realised they needed Jewish slave labour for factories ..and that there was no overarching ..genocidal plan ..but an evolving ..morphing policy which claimed perhaps 4,000,000 ..rather than 6,000,000 ..Jewish lives.” David Cole.

It occurs to me that the denial by those, whose underlying antisemitism seeks to cloak their rancid hatred in historical terms, can only add to an erosion of History. This fraudulent attempt though will not wash with History. Their revised version of a corrupted accounting is misplaced. That they seek to administer to a failed despot a reviewed version of his trawl through History is to distort a hatred before the gratification of those who aim to satisfy their own peculiar hatreds and with a tyrant’s hatred for The Jewish People. This all presents a blurred perspective of our own History which is untrue. This is also a remarkable failure to honour any of those Allies against Hitler who fell while fighting him. But for a little peace from the rabble, I relent here, and only for a moment. I am concerned that the contagion spread by such denial might just influence a generation whose trust they would foul! The mere presence of pseudo commentators on History, is distressing enough without their putrid version of events tainting further the historical relevance of our own Historical integrity.

“..pure myth ..Jews ..merely ‘passive’. ..Jews fought back ..to a degree no other community anywhere ..would have been capable of. ..they fought against hunger ..starvation ..disease ..a deadly Nazi economic blockade. They fought against murderers and ..traitors within their own ranks ..and ..were utterly alone in their fight. ..forsaken by God and ..man ..surrounded by hatred or indifference. ..there was much heroism ..little beauty ..much toil ..suffering ..no glamour. We fought back on every front ..biological ..economic ..propaganda ..cultural ..with every weapon ..possessed. In ..end ..ruse ..deception ..cunning beyond anything ..world had ever ..seen ..accomplished what hunger ..disease ..terror ..treachery ..could not. What defeated us ..Jewry’s unconquerable optimism ..eternal faith in ..goodness of man ..even a German ..a Nazi ..could never have ..renounced ..own humanity as to murder women ..’children’ coldly ..systematically. ..when we finally took up arms ..we inscribed in ..book of history epic of ..Ghetto Uprising.” Michal Berg.

I did not have any wish, while contemplating my choice to Remember these Jews of The Holocaust, to enter into any dialogue with these haters. Nor in fact does History itself wish to court the names of those persons whose clearest fraud is to deny the presence of 6,000,000 Murdered Jews in the overall Catastrophe of World War II. The denier, whose presence is in the same mould as far too many others who would press their own hate filled agenda, cannot succeed while Truth has a cause worth winning. But then that is the remit of those hate filled deniers, whose constant is a caustic erosion of Truth over lies. They secrete the need for Honesty over their deliberate deceit and they deny the veracity of The Holocaust over their self propelling intolerances and antisemitism. So here goes a rebuke I had considered was not required for these deviants! ALL deniers are liars, they are fraudulent, and any contradiction of the Factual Truth of The Holocaust is despicable.

“..Are we dealing ..with merely a passing phenomenon ..a transient ..ugly wave ..a sort of by-product of ‘The Final Solution’ or are we faced with an antisemitic trend that may have a future .. which ..we shall have to confront.” Yisrael Gutman.

That a person so resents our History is shocking enough with the essence of History being eroded by a non adherence to circumspection which their lies and fraud promote. Virulent and damning their certain agenda is a sad reflection upon the many who pursue hatred above all reason. Having lied to so many, having altered their view on many occasions, in much the same way as all other liars have a propensity to do, the denier seeks to swell the arena with words that are corrupting and corrosive. With an attempt to simply promote themselves, they deny the Jewish Fate in The Holocaust. Here, before the mantle of Historical evidence they forge an untruth which has no credibility. They have become an irrelevance which is in need of lancing. They are a boil on the backside of Humanity, creaking from a tired and vested hatred for a People who have a proven worth in Human, Religious and Educational terms. As you will remember, this denial concerns the Murder of 6,000,000 Jews of Europe; Men, Women and Their Children.

“..No 6,000,000 Jews were murdered ..but only one Jew ..and this happened 6,000,000 times. If you really want to understand ..meaning of ..persecution of ..Jews ..you would have to write 6,000,000 biographies of 6,000,000 individuals.” Abel Herzberg.

So while those deniers admit to the Gas Chambers, and then dismiss the Gas Chamber as a creation of those seeking to extract a sympathy, restitution or imposition, we severely rebuke their denial. While indeed Auschwitz was not in the same mould as Belzec, Chelmno, Sobibor or even Treblinka, though Birkenau was, there does not emerge anything but a meagre job of denying what the accepted Truth is! BTW! Cole Forgot to mention Majdanek which was also a Death Camp, but aligned more with Auschwitz, as it too had a Concentration Camp element to it. So, Lest we Forget, I wish to restate that while Auschwitz was part of an unholy trinity as The Concentration Camp Auschwitz, as The Labour Camp Monowitz and as The Death Camp at Birkenau, the combined effort was to debilitate, enslave and Murder those Jews who entered through a gate which cynically boasted it would set them free. Those who explore the realm of The Death Camp will know Auschwitz for its capacity to Murder and it Murdered more than 1,100,000 Jews and others on an industrial scale unprecedented in all History.

I have visited the Concentration Camp at Auschwitz. I have entered the realm of a hell that is known to the entire World as Birkenau. It is a sad fact that only those who wish to deny that in a land, overrun by Germans, within a system ordered by Hitler and for a People confined forever in a Catastrophe of such proportions, Jewish antecedence took a major blow. For such a crime, History had to come up with a term to define it. Raphael Lemkin did just that with a designation, Genocide. But Genocides have been and gone and nothing confines Humanity to a space more aptly named than The Holocaust, for wherein lies the remains of 6,000,000 of the Jewish People. For what was a journey of concern, out of respect I have Blogged my experience. That experience you can meet and be a Witness to my effort here!

Now while Cole is right that the genocidal policy of Hitler was conceived of on the go, and that The Holocaust only emerged as a resolve toward The Final Solution. This was all decided only after exile, starvation, ghettoisation and ‘resettlement’ had been attempted by Hitler’s wish to have all aspects explored. While Cole clearly admits to The Holocaust’s inception, he admits to its commencement and a sort of final resolve. So even though he stated the Final Catastrophe wrongly as below that 6,000,000 which is the applicable Account, he admits to a genocidal policy. With the T4 Euthanasia wing wound down, after public/church protest(sic), the aficionadoes of Murder by lethal injection, shooting, hanging and ‘Gassing’ became the arbiters of Death and Destruction elsewhere. They emerged to add knowledge to der Einsatzgruppe, Waffen SS, SS and police battalions and this is where Cole’s confusion over dates occur.

“..I have struggled hard to overcome ..hatred of those who cruelly destroyed my early life ..my family and almost succeeded in exterminating my people. ..I have come to realise ..there are no basically evil nations or racial groups. ..There are only evil people ..seekers after wealth or power.” Maja Abramowitch.

By 1943, the bulk of Hungarian Jewry was still intact and Birkenau had barely completed its worst accounts. But the acknowledgement in History that 1,250,000 Jews had already been Murdered by der Einsaztgruppe, which is an assessment logged in their own words has not been correctly computed by this denier! The passage of time will never relinquish its hold on the true weight of the Catastrophe. For History alone must adjudge what is the correct account, given the almost exact detail of the atrocity against the Jewish People. But while we err on the cautious, and accept that some 6,000,000 Jews perished, died or were systematically Destroyed, we might well be looking for an eternity to find the exceeding figure is far greater than the 6,000,000 Jews of Europe.

There was an emergence of effort which led, through experimentation with various forms of killing and execution. This led one notorious Murderer, who fell asleep in his car, after imbibing far too much liquid beverage of the alcohol sort, to strike a eureka moment with a drowsy effect? Carbon Monoxide does actually kill. The Gassing Van was born out of that reality check and it was passed along the line for use before the static version of The Death Camp became the choice of Hitler and the machinery of destruction moved up a gear. From that initial concept stems The Final Solution as we are aware of it. Evolving into a mechanised, industrialised and systematic Slaughter of the Jews of Europe, History has a term so difficult to comprehend.

All told, and if you are as unaware of the figure as would not be possible, some 6,000,000 Murdered Jews of Europe, those Jews of The Holocaust, were Murdered systematically and in cold Blood. These were Men, Women and Their Children of the race of People we recognise within Humanity? Now these Jewish People, innocent of any charge, were Shot, Hanged, Gassed and otherwise killed for pleasure and to satiate the hatred of Hitler and those others who attached their intolerances to the bandwagon of antisemitism. The Holocaust is borne out of a travesty for The Jewish People, but within our own indifference are we not shamed in all History?

All of this relating to The Holocaust, its Truthful integrity and Factual certainty has now been said and more often than I would care to suggest. But in adding mere words to the sanctity of Remembrance, there is a divine space where those words meet an intention that was forgotten within that History! I have no further wish to demean further the Memory we have set aside for the Jews of The Holocaust. But contentions with these despicable deniers, a surely hate filled people makes the effort ever more necessary. I will continually respond to any manner of hatred of The Jewish People on all sites, and I will Remember that in the Slaughter of 6,000,000 Innocent Jews of Europe, much of our ‘Christian’, humanitarian, moral and ethical Soul has been lost. For the likes of those who deny, they have been ridiculed, denounced and have been found wanting!

The denier’s insignificance can not be enhanced by a churlish disregard for what makes History integral to Truth and Honesty! The deniers have lost the very battle they have set before time and the war on History is over for them. The denier’s hatred is not only a despicable slur on 6,000,000 Jews, who are unable now to respond but demeans the efforts of those Soldiers and Civilians who died protecting this World we live in from Fascism and a total disregard for the rights of all others. Why do we commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day? We do this in order to Remember that 6,000,000 Jews of Europe, Men, Women and Their Children were Murdered in a cold and calculated, systematic and methodological manner. So if we choose to Commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day we must Remember the very reason for the day and its specified purpose! We are also duty-bound to recognise the depths of hatred and depravity to which Humanity can descend in order to elaborate upon what it is that sets us above the Animal kingdom! For The Jewish Survivor of that attempt to deprive them of a life, it is a day when they must relive the terror, retell the horror and enable those of us who wish to do so, to come to terms with what the World allowed to happen! Despite all the mealy mouthed platitudes concerning the conduct of a War, humanity cast aside the Jews of Europe with little consideration given to these innocent Jews! So this Holocaust Memorial Day, please Remember the 6,000,000 Jews whose Murders we seek to fix in the consciousness of World History. For 6,000,000 Jews of Europe! We can do no less?

Today, in a State, free from the stench of The Death Camps and The Killing Sites of Europe but engulfed by the Atrocity which occurred, The Jewish Survivor walks more freely around Israel, a nation built upon the guilt of a lost humanity. Truly created by a shamed World, which stood idly by as these 6,000,000 Jewish Men, Women and Their Children were sought from our midst and were Slaughtered, within Israel an Arab, Christian or Jew is free to walk within that State and alongside each other, together and more free than any Jew can reside now in any other Nation. All in Israel are free from any sponsored Religious Intolerances! People are free to endorse Political and Secular views and are unencumbered by the forms of Intolerances the Jewish Survivor witnessed and was subjected to in the midst of a final solution. But before we can even begin to accept the final reckoning, that was a final resolve for those we now see as Survivors, we must assess the presence of a Jewish Community that had persisted within the framework of all of Europe for 1,000’s of years.

For the time span we are concerned with, from the rise of Hitler to the Destruction of The Jewish People in The Holocaust, we must dissect statistics. Here Simon Wiesenthal is more accurate than most:

and so we must never see these People as numbers even when those who have Survived those Destroyed have numbers branded upon them! So for a period that sees the Annihilation of 6,000,000 Jewish People, all because they were Jews, and only because they were Jews, we can look to certain statistical collators like:

15,192,218 Jews who lived in the World! This was made up of

9,418,248 Jews who were resident in Europe, with

4,624,787 Jews who had resided in America, and

585,791 Jews who lived across Asia, while

538,609 Jews lived in Africa and then there were some

24,783 Jews who lived in Australia and New Zealand.

With this as the consensus, at least from amongst reasonable people, not just academics and scholars, we can assess a Jewish loss. These collators, who are credited with an integrity required to safeguard history from review or revision stand aloft with a veracity the deniers will never match. This statistical analysis pre-exists The Holocaust and as such cannot be declared in any way corrupted by Hitler’s future intentions. The ultimate threat therefore, which Herr Hitler posed toward the Jews of Europe is cruelly exposed as a final solution which ultimately morphed systematically into a final resolve, The Holocaust. As measure after measure was applied to isolate, expel and then destroy the Jews of Germany initially, and then all Jewish People from the whole of Europe, the Jews as a body of People will be removed entirely from the body of the German people and then removed entirely from actual existence.

Here though, immediately prior to Herr Hitler’s aggressive war, which commenced with the Invasion of Poland on September 1st. 1939, the Jewish World Population had risen to some 16,600,000 Men, Women and Their Children. Here still was a chance for the Jews of Europe to be given clear and categorical assurances of their right to life by the Free World! But these were the People of The Jewish Faith, demonised by Hitler and castigated by 2,000 years of Religious intolerances. These were the Jews who had previously Survived Pogroms and all manner of human indifferences. So when it becomes the ultimate realisation for History that we are to be eventually talking about the Destruction of 6,000,000 Jewish People, History must note with care and concern for what the world had allowed to transpire! While intolerance can become an accusation, world indifference can be its accuser and a growing awareness, a knowledge of what had been commissioned against the Jews is an accusation for History still to rectify.

The American Jewish Yearbook of 1947:

By 1946 the World Jewish Population had been drastically reduced to about 11,000,000 People of the Jewish Faith. With this as an assessment of the years between 1932 and 1946, we are faced with the surety that at least 5,600,000 Jewish Men, Women and Their Children have been Eradicated and otherwise Annihilated! That said, meaningful growth in the World Jewish Population would have to be taken into account, which should have added significantly to the figures mentioned here, and perhaps to a ratio of 1/11 that might add to that Jewish presence?

This would signify that we should have expected the growth in the Jewish World Population in that 15 year period, would be somewhere in the region of some 1,400,000 Jewish Persons! Within Europe there remained but 3,642,000 Jews of that pre-war Population of some 9,740,000 (In line even with Heydrich/Eichmann’s own Wannsee assessment, and this means a loss of 6,098,000 Jews Murdered under Hitler’s regime. Such was the implicit nature of German methodology, a conference was called for in which all of Germany, its People and bureaucracies would become complicit in the crimes being conducted and to be presented to a World made aware. This, The Wannsee Conference has, as its own estimates show, and the protocol does just that in its breakdown of those very Nations whose Jews Herr Hitler has clearly earmarked for Destruction.

That Wannsee declared these 11,293,300 Jews were to be Destroyed, it should suggest those who emerged from underneath the totality of Hitler’s expectation and his hate filled demand, they must be considered to have Survived Hitler’s intention. However, on the question of Who is actually a Survivor, there is to be no hard and fast rule! Nor is there an easy answer to this, despite my attempts to assure myself it was rather simple, in a methodological way! By definition I would suggest any Jew who avoided the intention of Hitler to have them Slaughtered is a Survivor. When we consider that The Wannsee Conference had sought the Destruction of 11,293,300 Jews, and given that 6,000,000 of those were Murdered in The Holocaust, there is a precedent for accepting there are 5,293,300 Jewish Survivors.

From Hitler’s clear intention to have all Jews of Europe Murdered, those who were not Annihilated are Survivors! For a long time though, I have only considered the Survivor to have been those Jews who emerged after having remained in situ. Whether that position was from a hiding place in Towns, Cities or Ghettoes, whether they were detained within the confines of Death and Concentration Camps, whilst awaiting their own final solution, and when luck saw them escape, emerge, Survive, this can be recognised more accurately as the Jewish Survivor than say the 4,000 Jews of Ireland! But these Jews of Ireland were indeed Hitler’s intended targets, but they never quite came under the physical yoke of Hitler’s resolve. All of these are Survivors! Though those who finally emerged from the midst of the Catastrophe, from the Camps, Pits and Ravines, from the Ghettoes or in hiding are the truer Survivors in the sense of a criteria set by Hitler and his Nazis.

But one should not exclude any Jew who does not fit such a categorised template but still managed to live out Hitler’s call for their final solution! There is a deep concern that while we attribute such emphasis to the relative study of statistical analysis, the fate of a People is somehow sidelined. If we take for instance that between 1933 and 1945, the period that we will identify as The Holocaust period, few Jews of Europe managed to escape the clutches of Hitler and The Final Solution. While Countries continually sought to close their Borders to Jewish Refugees, and émigré status was applied only to some other Jews, the consequences for ALL Jews of such a mean spirited process, resulted in 6,000,000 Jews of Europe, Men, Women and Their Children being Murdered.

This represented 425,000 Jews who were saved out of the 11,293,300 Jews targeted by The Wannsee Conference. Though saved from ultimate Destruction, are these Jews as recognisable as the Jewish Survivors who emerged from within the Killing Sites, the Death Camps or even the Ghettoes of Hitler’s Reich? While we are engaged in the decisive matter to attribute a status to those Jews who are still alive after World War II, it is to those Jews who were presented with a life and death choice, with a decision to make or a circumstance to consider, it is these Jews for whom we owe a narrative to The Holocaust that we so demand! Also, and despite what Hitler had intended for them all, let us Remember that the Catastrophe for these Jews of these European Nations stands as an accusation of not only what happened to them, but what the World allowed to happen to them:

This analysis, though it can never be conclusive, shows that the Jewish loss to the nations mentioned amounts to some 5,962,783 Jews who were Murdered and clearly, when we look to the assessment finally made for Historical reference, we have 6,000,000 Murdered Jews of Europe as an accepted point at which we can attempt to comprehend the Catastrophe. Adolf Eichmann is not far off the mark with his euphemistically termed ‘resettling’:

“..By resettling ..Jews out of ..European economic area to a yet to be determined territory. In ..framework of this ..5,800,000 Jews will be affected.” Adolf Eichmann.

The message from The Holocaust is clear to me and should be so for all of Humanity and it is that Intolerance breeds contempt for all of Human existence. Rwanda has proved we did not learn the lesson appropriately. Serbia and Croatia proved too that Intolerance has a stranglehold upon humanity no longer confined to the Jewish People. 6,000,000 Jews of Europe found that to their cost, what we today must prove can no longer be tolerated. It is a fact too, that for those who sit with bigots, they develop a newer racism and in any of its forms, racism is the putrefaction of the humanity in all people!

The terrible events in Paris recently have proved, alongside what ‘fundamentalists’ have set out to inflict upon communities world wide, that the train waiting outside the wall is taking innocent lives to their deaths, and they are not all Jews being Murdered. However, Elie Wiesel’s contention still stands, and while not all victims will be Jews, All Jews Will Be Victimised. We must act more strongly, and with a combined effort that is inclusive of all those the fundamentalists insist they speak for, to resist the clamour for more and more Intolerances! Paris, where ordinary working people have since found to their cost, that though the Train from the Jewish Ghetto has long since departed with its cargo of Jews, no one people, no one Religious grouping is safe from the intolerable accusation and resolve that is Intolerance!

The grist mill of The Death Camp has been removed from this newer arena and the experience gained by der Einsatzgruppe in the field, has been utilised on the streets of Paris, Sydney and wherever innocent people strive to live peacefully with their neighbour! For me, The Holocaust Survivor holds the key, not simply in the requirement to Survive in the cauldron of competing hatred, but in their ability to afford us a solution as to how to persist against such indifference to Human life! The Jewish Survivor has much to contend with, not least our insistence that they remind us how they were betrayed by us. How they were shunned by us. How they were badly treated by us. How they were brutally beaten by us. How they were starved by us. How they were reduced to intolerable conditions by us. How they were isolated by us. How they were boarded on trains by us and how the lords of death were allowed by us to deliver 6,000,000 of their brethren, those who did not Survive, to Destruction.

Holocaust Memorials are for those who are the reason we have a Holocaust to contend with. The Holocaust Memorials are Jewish by definition, as defined by those 6,000,000 Jewish People who are no longer able to voice their concern or status as a living being. Genocides will perplex the World to come, but History will know The Holocaust Slaughter of 6,000,000 Jews of Europe now has a day, Remembering that the liberation of the Auschwitz & Birkenau Death Camp on January 27th. 1945 now marks a Catastrophe that we will Remember on Their behalf! It is Holocaust Memorial Day for a reason and 70 years on from the greatest Catastrophe ever to be inflicted upon mankind, when 6,000,000 Innocent Jews of Europe were Murdered, they have a Day on which we will Remember them. That date is:

January 27th.

We approach a New Year with new commitment, new hopes and a renewed certainty that what has gone in the past should be reflected upon. We are urged to ensure that what we have learned is delivered without equivocation, with truth and honesty and that lessons are taken forward! The truth will always remain the Truth and in that certainty, the Fact of The Holocaust will not be denied! Along with that certainty, I have a question! What is a thirty year time span in History? It is barely a jot on the landscape of all periods thrown together! Whether it is enough time however, to influence the course of our future, that matters to all only in so much that we have learned the lessons to be taken from the experience of its past!

There is that moment of
reflection, and it is all that concerns us as we contemplate the
direction we are then promoting for our future. For me, and I never
quite realised how prone to the face valued integrity of people I am,
but I learn and I will always deliver in the course of my work, a
remembrance of the most cataclysmic event to ever permeate the meaning
for all Humanity and that is, The Holocaust. Also, it matters that the
truth be told, because the Truth is significant when we face the World! I
labour the point of truth because all I ever sought to achieve in all
my effort, whether that is work, rest or the desire to achieve, was the
delivery of an honest assessment of my own position with regards to much
that affects us all.

In many ways, The Holocaust has become a champion of that resolve, as it focuses my attention when so much seeks to delineate its effort. So I persevere with The Holocaust veracity in order to deal with any denial which sucks the air out of such a Catastrophe’s integrity! Sometimes though, the stuffing is literally kicked out of you remorselessly, metaphorically speaking. When there are these clowns who come along with their attempted revisionism of that very well described, analysed Truth, the World should not be at all confused. Theirs is a persistent and specific revision of a particular aspect of History. That they wish to distort it, is apparent. My resolve though is given a boost! There are times when I cannot resolve the issues they have, which manage to confound me! I look to history to deliver me back to where I had been aiming, and I traverse once more that line of seeking to Remember the Jews of The Holocaust. For their cause is a just cause!

Anyway, it would be wrong of me, to not persevere with the truth, to give way to a slight against a Murdered and dismembered body of humanity. For that would be to allow the Truth to err, for the Facts to become negated and for the revisionist denial of an aspect of history to be destroyed. That would in turn destroy the integrity of all history that the revisers would chance to conceptualise. We cannot ever bargain with the Truth! It is sacrosanct! It is all we have to learn from as we deliver from our past through the present day and toward an other’s future. So for these deniers, whose own sought out and nefarious end will fail, owes all to the many who hold dear to the Truth, because Truth will and must persevere.

These race haters and their attempted destruction of the truth, have no credibility in the annals of History. These, whose only legacy to posterity will be to deny that The Holocaust ever happened, have seen their revisionism revised, tethered to a lie they wish to extort from. The denial lobby, whose only motive is a clear hatred of The Jewish People, is all because those 6,000,000 victims of the greatest Genocide ever to permeate our historical awareness, were Jews. This ensures they have a distorted position in our midst. The denial thus sheds their veneer of revisionist nonsense and secretes a bile so pungent, it permeates reason with suspicion and doubt.

Their fundamental objection, and in all that they seek to achieve as a retort to the pertinent fact that The Holocaust was solely directed against the World of Jewry, is the denial of a resting place for these 6,000,000 Jews of Europe. Ethnic, Religious, Pernicious or Racial hatred must not be allowed the incantation of miserly words from discredited arbiters of libellous chants and obsessions. Hatred for the Jewish People is an evil which has been shown throughout history to fashion much that has been wrong within Humanity! We only need go back 82 years to when the History of Germany gave citizenship to an Austrian who constructed for them a ‘Genocide’ that would labour their civilising influence upon Europe and the World!

Within the coming years, and we will pick out a 30 year time span to show what Hitler achieved and what we, the World allowed to happen; Freedom, Equality and the Fraternity amongst People was rocked to its core. As Hitler sought to consolidate the position he demanded for Germany and the German peoples, State after State was put under pressure to align itself or face threat and conflict. Czechoslovakia, Austria and then Poland so succumbed to the pressure and in Poland, after the events of November 9th. 1938, Kristallnacht should have convinced the World of the threat to World Jewry from Herr Hitler? When Hitler invaded Polish sovereignty on September 1st. 1939, the Jews of Europe were further exposed to a rampant antisemitism and a final resolve that would shake the foundations of all Humanity.

That Final Solution had gathered pace by the time Hitler had launched his attack upon his feigned ally Russia, on June 22nd. 1941. Now unleashed, der Einsatzgruppe swept all before it and engorged itself with a destructive path that obliterated entire communities, slaughtered en masse innocent people and targeted in unequal measure all those Jews it came into contact with. What Hitler was to emphasise in a conference he held with senior officials of his Reich, gave newer impetus to a resolve that was finally providing an over-riding solution to Hitler’s problem with The Jewish People. The time was ripe for Hitler to galvanise all of Germany into that ultimate goal and December 12th. 1941 bears witness to what Hitler had always intended would be The Final Solution of The Jewish Question in Europe.

“..In respect of ..Jewish question ..make a clean sweep. ..world war is here ..annihilation of ..Jews must be ..necessary result. This question is to be regarded without sentimentalism. We are not here to have sympathy with ..Jews ..but ..with our German people. If ..German people have sacrificed 160,000 dead in ..Eastern campaign ..authors of this bloody conflict will have to pay for it with their lives.” Adolf Hitler.

Yet, the Wannsee Conference had not been convened, it had been postponed while Hitler put into each phrase what no official present could misinterpret! While Murder and mayhem had already profited Hitler’s clear intention for Jewish annihilation, Heydrich progressed this agenda into an administrative resolve. Whether from that clear intention which Hitler set before his Reich, or from the functioning force of those others who wished to deliver to Hitler the very terms of reference he constantly spoke about, the Jewish fate was to be a catastrophically deadly and brutal one! It must be remembered too that on January 20th. 1942, when the conference finally convened, Chelmno was in operation, murdering the Jews of Lodz and from its surrounding areas.

Also, an operational der Einsatzgruppe had been Murdering Jews and others at breakneck speed for nearly 7 months. But fate would play into Hitler’s hands once more, as he gauged the cost in manpower and bullets for the Destruction of The Jewish People. This then was the coming evidence of the actions undertaken by der Einsatzgruppe that was placed before the proceeding Eichmann Trial:-

1) Operation Unit “A” put to death in the course of the first four months of the German Army’s invasion into the aforementioned regions: Lithuania: over 80,000 Jews; Latvia: over 30,000 Jews; Estonia: about 470 Jews; Belorussia: over 7,600 Jews; Russia: about 2,000 Jews; The province of Tilsit: about 5,500 Jews. A total of over 135,000 Jews.

2) Operation Unit “B” up to 14 November 1941 exterminated upwards of 45,000 Jews in Belorussia and other zones.

3) Operation Unit “C” up to 3 November 1941 exterminated in the Ukraine more than 75,000 Jews – and amongst them about 33,000 Jews of Kiev.

4) Operation Unit “D” exterminated about 54,000 Jews up to 12 December 1941.

Since Jews were already dying in the Concentration Camps, in Villages and Towns, in Cities and in the Ghettos of Europe, the emergence of 5 other Death Camps, Belzec, Majdanek, Sobibor, Treblinka and Auschwitz Birkenau were now to play their fundamentally destructive part in Hitler’s process toward annihilation. This then was the coming evidence of the Operational Death Camps that was placed before the proceeding Eichmann Trial:-

1) Birkenau (Auschwitz) where more than 1,100,000 Jews alone were Slaughtered! Auschwitz I, which existed since May 1940, and the Death Camp factory of Birkenau, Auschwitz II, which was established in the September of 1941. From January 1942 in five gas chambers, and from the end of June 1943 with the completion of four additional gassing-rooms, Zyklon B was used in the gassings of Jews and other nationals. Gypsies, Russians and Poles were amongst those who were murdered at Auschwitz/Birkenau. This industrial, mechanised effort, using Zyklon ‘B’ gas continued right up until November 1944.

“..When I came into ..room ..Eichmann was speaking of a figure of 2,500,000 relating to Auschwitz. On what had transpired before ..and whether that was ..correct number of Jews that had been supplied for extermination by gas at Auschwitz ..this I do not know.” Rudolf Hoess.

2) Chelmno where more than 152,000 Jews alone were Slaughtered! This was the first operational Camp for the extermination of the Jewish People and it ran its murderous enterprise from December 8th. 1941, suspended its operations for a time in August of that year. It resumed operations from May 1944 until August 1944. The appartus of killing was dismantled January 17th. 1945. Carbon Monoxide poisonous gas is Gassing Vans was used. Jews, Gypises of the Roma, Sinti and Lalleri were all Murdered here.

“..As soon as ..ramp had been erected in ..castle ..people started arriving in Kulmhof [Chelmno] from Litzmannstadt in lorries. ..people were told that they had to take a bath ..that their clothes had to be disinfected and that they could hand in any valuable items beforehand to be registered. When they had undressed they were sent to ..cellar of ..castle and then along a passageway on to ..ramp and from there into ..gas-van. In ..castle there were signs marked “to ..baths”. ..gas vans were large vans ..about 4-5 meters long ..2.2 meter wide and 2 meter high. ..interior walls were lined with sheet metal. On ..floor there was a wooden grille. ..floor of ..van had an opening which could be connected to ..exhaust by means of a removable metal pipe. When ..lorries were full of people ..double doors at ..back were closed and ..exhaust connected to ..interior of ..van.” Walter Burmeister.

3) Belzec where more than 600,000 Jews alone were Slaughtered! 1st. November 1941 Construction of the extermination camp begins. This extermination camp was in operation from March 17th. 1942 until December 1942. 80,000 Jews were Murdered her during its first month of operation. Carbon Monoxide gas was used to Murder those Jews, and others who entered the Camp. As with Chelmno Roma, Sinti and Lalleri Gypsies were also Murdered here. Shootings, Hangings and Gassings were among the methods of extermination here. Belzec was the second camp to function solely as a killing center and the first camp to have permanent gas chambers built and used. The Camp was dismantled after the SK 1005 Aktion to extinguish the evidence of the Slaughter was completed in August 1943.

4) Sobibor where more than 250,000 Jews alone were Slaughtered! Between May 1942 and October 1943 this extermination camp was operational. x5 Gassing Chambers were used for the Murders of those Jews, and others, who were brought to the Camp. Effectively closed down after the Uprising of October 14th. 1943.

“..I estimate ..number of Jews gassed at Sobibor ..about 350,000. In ..canteen at Sobibor I once overheard a conversation between Frenzel ..Stangl ..Wagner. ..discussing ..number of victims in ..extermination camps of Belzec ..Treblinka ..Sobibor and expressed ..regret ..Sobibor “came last” in ..competition.” Erich Bauer.

5) Treblinka where more than 900,000 Jews alone were Slaughtered! This extermination camp was constructed in April 1942 and was operational from July 22nd. 1942 until the Uprising on August 2nd. 1943 sealed its fate.

“..During ..entire time I was in Treblinka ..I served in ..Upper Camp. Upper camp was that part of Treblinka with ..gas chambers ..where ..Jews were killed and their corpses laid in large pits and later burned.” Heinrich Matthes.

6) Majdanek where more than 200,000 Jews alone were Slaughtered! This extermination camp was operational from the July 21st. 1941 until July 1944. x7 Operational Gas Chambers were used as well as Gassing Vans. Those Jews, and others who entered here were Murdered using both Zyklon ‘B’ and Carbon Monoxide gas. More than 1,350 Cubic Metres of Human Ash alone was found on Liberation in parts of the Camp. The Murdered of Majdanek were buried behind Compound V and were later burned in the x2 Crematoria opened in June 1942. An early assessment shows Majdanek far behind in the Killing Process than the x3 ‘Aktion Reinhard’ Death Camps.

At Wannsee though, Hitler was to ensure fully that all of Germany, and all of the German people would be implicitly aligned and therefore complicit in what was already happening to the Jewish People. Hitler would not stand alone when History came to judge those who perpetrated the crimes within The Holocaust. What was about to eventually emerge, after German defeat was confirmed in 1945, was the realisation that the Destruction of 6,000,000 Jews of Europe had been accomplished with will assistance from many of other nations and all of this was done in the name of the German people also.

From the total set for Destruction by The Wannsee Conference of over 11,000,000 Jews, who would be sought out for systematic Slaughter, the target reached of 6,000,000 Murdered Jews has ever since sent ripples of despair throughout our History. These reproaches, which will not be quelled in another millennia, must be Remembered in terms of an enormous loss to all humanity. 11) Dr. Alfred Meyer State Secretary of the Occupied Eastern Territories.

12) Heinrich Muller Chief of the Gestapo.

13) Dr. Erich Neumann State Secretary at the Office for the Four Year Plan.

14) Dr. Karl Eberhard Schongarth Commander Security Police & Security Service Generalgouvernment.

15) Dr. Wilhelm Stuckart State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior.

Taken in isolation, just 2 names have a significance to this event which demonstrates the full intention by Hitler as to why this meeting was convened. Eichmann is well known to the student of The Holocaust. The architect of annihilation and the man singularly charged with ensuring the Death of European Jewry. Eichmann conducted administratively in all The Holocaust’s clinical certainty. Then we have Dr. Rudolf Lange, an SS Sturmbannfuhrer, Commander of EinsatzKommando 2, of Einsatzgruppe A, who had conducted the Slaughter of Latvian Jewry. His expertise was a lynchpin in the progress toward ensuring Hitler would have one fundamental victory when all else, his 1,000 year Reich and a World War had failed him.

The Destruction of 6,000,000 of European Jewry; Men, Women and Their Children required the killing expertise of Lange, alongside the organisational skill Eichmann brought to bear. With Hitler’s speech of January 30th. 1942, merely 10 days after Wannsee, fully underscoring what he had intended and what much of Germany knew and suspected would be, that Jewry faced dire consequences. All of World Jewry, and not just these 11,000,000 Jews of Wannsee, faced a destructive end more dire than history had ever imagined. Though Hitler termed his intention with reference to the disappearance of The Jewish People, all bodies of the Reich were present at Wannsee to discern exactly what Hitler meant by die Endlosung der Judenfrage. It was to be The Final Solution of The Jewish Question, the Destruction of a People, The Holocaust of The Jews of Europe!

While it must prove essential for the World to visit Auschwitz Birkenau and the other Death Camps, to see where the organised destruction was achieved, there is also a need to visit Wannsee to look at how swiftly and adeptly all these Jews of Europe were consigned to oblivion. Look at how organised and sanitised the clamour for 11,000,000 Murders was given the seal of approval from the ranks of the Reich! Know too that while Hitler stood back from the administrative device that was to lead the charge toward that Final Solution, we know in History that without Hitler, there would have been no Holocaust and 6,000,000 Jewish lives would not stand as accusers!

“..Jews have deserved ..catastrophe that has now overtaken them. Their destruction will go hand in hand with ..destruction of our enemies. We must hasten this process with cold ruthlessness.” Josef Goebbels.

As we converge on what the basis of this 30 year excursion means for us all, from Hitler’s naturalisation in 1932 to where we jump that 30 year time span and reach May 31st. 1962 when Adolf Eichmann is Hanged, 6,000,000 Innocent Jewish Men, Women and Their Children had been ritually Slaughtered. This was the coming evidence for the account that is the 6,000,000 Murdered Jews of The Holocaust and that was placed before the proceeding Eichmann Trial:-

“..Adolf Eichmann ..who had been put in charge of this program by Hitler ..has estimated that ..policy pursued resulted in ..killing of 6,000,000 Jews ..of which 4,000,000 were killed in ..extermination institutions.”

When Eichmann was finally hanged for his Crimes Against Humanity, it must be firmly fixed in the consciousness of all those who study the very terms of The Holocaust, these crimes were committed and systematically directed against The Jewish People! The fact that those Jewish People of our very Humanity were largely, almost singularly attested to and contracted by Hitler, is not a debate, it is a certain fact. That these Jews of Europe were abandoned to their fate by an indifferent World, is indeed a debate, and it is a contention we must all invest in, if the lessons are to be learned.

Of course, much has become evidenced and altered our perception of History. Since The Holocaust rocked the very foundation of culture, civilisation and all historical meaning, a newer term was required and Genocide was given its title in The Holocaust. What appears hidden within the meanings and euphemisms issued for the collected Slaughter, for the wholesale Destruction and for The Holocaust of The Jews of Europe, whose 6,000,000 individual Jews were indeed affected, must not be allowed to diffuse the truth nor blur the fact of what happened to so many innocent Jewish People.

So to that end, as we resource the need to always Remember and recall, and as we persist and insist that we never Forget, we must visit the Holocaust Memorial, Museum or Centre and know the duty owed by so many to these Jews of Europe. Visit YadVashem, USHHM, Simon Wiesenthal Centre, Anne Frank House, Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan or Beth Shalom in Nottingham, UK; and know that the worth of Humanity has been written in so much blood, its legacy touches us all. For the World of humanity, however, the clear lessons are there to be made and we should learn from them.
